As a note, the audio during the first 20 minutes of the session is a bit muted but improves once the microphone technical issues were cleared up. Enjoy!

What a fantastic video and exactly what I was looking for! My buddy Mike and I are getting ready to head to his beach condo on Thursday for our annual 4-day BeachCon and we will be playing this exact scenario for the first time. This great tutorial has helped tremendously in figuring out how to get started. Thank you so much Bruce, Fred, and Moe!

Very helpful. Exactly the sort of tutorial I needed. One minor quibble. When Bruce says "this unit," it's difficult to tell which unit he's talking about. Maybe during the live Vassal play you can see the cursor pointing to the unit in question.

That was an issue on my end. For some reason, I was not able to mirror his screen and see his cursor movements, so I was moving the screen around as best I could to follow the action. I apologize for that and it's the one thing I wished was better in this video. Glad you liked it, despite that issue and hope it helps you understand the game better!

Nice job. Spent many hours playing the VG version of this in the 1980's. Fantastic and tense game.

Thanks, glad you liked it! If you liked the old version, you might be interested in checking out his new one. Bruce reworked the game extensively, it's fantastic!

Interesting . Watching Bruce do operational airstrikes. No interception. No flak. They just waltz right in and attack.

Is this game suitable for newbie solitaire play?
@MoesWargames

For a complete newbie, I wouldn't recommend it due to the scope. New wargamers would be better served with smaller maps, lower counter count, and a smaller rule book. Not saying a newer wargamer couldn't learn and enjoy this game, just that it would be a bigger challenge that may be frustrating and turn you off of wargames. Go for a smaller wargame to start, build from there. Definitely get a copy of this game when it's back in print shortly, so you can dig into it when you're ready. It's definitely worth it!

I have Target for today and play that a lot, so newbie may not be the correct designation. Can you recommend a good solitaire game as I play alone. Thank you

@@jackthompson5011 if you enjoy Target for Today, then you should check out Greg Smith's line of solitaire games. He has several solo games that centered around aircraft, WWII submarines, and even Zeppelin's. He's also got an upcoming solo tank game called American Tank Ace from Compass. Any of them would be fun for you I think, and right in your wheelhouse! If you like tactical gaming, Compass has the Combat! series, which is man to man WWII tactical. The first volume is being updated to a 2nd Edition, and Volume 2 is an expansion that requires the first volume. So don't get Vol 2 without Vol 1, as that's the base game. There's a LOT of game in those two boxes. I've got videos on both here on the channel. Hope that helps!

It’s great that Bruce has made this helpful effort but demonstrates why designers should avoid teaching their games and writing their rule books without a third party …too much assumed knowledge not their fault just human nature to make unconscious knowledge assumptions…but thanks for posting …at least it gives a vague insight into this new reiteration of my very first war game back in the day …

It's actually a very comprehensive rule book.

Am I to assume to this that the reforger sites were not buried underground? Its so obvious I guess I just always assumed they were.

Primarily POMCUS sites were warehouses. They may have had some underground ones but above ground warehouses were what I'm mostly aware of. Bruce may be able to chime in with more information on what he found in his research for the game.

They were mostly above ground warehouses, with surprisingly small garrisons and little or no reinforced shelters. I think the basic idea was to NOT be taken with the pants down. Some study from DoD also concluded that the damage caused by a small force raid would have been acceptable / small, but luckily we have not been able to verify their conclusions :D
