Integrative holistic therapies can play a major role in helping people feel better, especially when they are dealing with neurologic diseases. Dr. Tavee discusses how people living with ALS and their caregivers can benefit from nutrition, exercise, and mind-body therapies. Questions, answers, and discussions followed the program.
Jinny Tavee, MD, is the Chief, Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine at National Jewish Health. Dr. Tavee has a special interest in integrative holistic medicine and teaches meditation to medical students, patients, and physicians from all over the world. She is actively involved in researching the effects of meditation on chronic neurologic diseases and has led meditation retreats for cancer survivors and injured U.S. Marines returning from the Gulf War through the Wounded Warriors program. She has recently completed a clinical trial evaluating the use of yoga breathing for people living with ALS.
