As promised, this is the tutorial for the wire-pod for Vector Production Bots on Raspberry Pi. You can also follow this tutorial if you have a linux machine with Ubuntu, it works excellent, I tested it. I have multiple bugs on windows, and I didn't manage to find a stable way to get wire-pod running on windows.
But anyhow, here are the steps with the proper links below.
1. Install raspberry pi os:
www.raspberrypi.com/software/
(link to the pi imager)
2. Set up bot firmware link:
keriganc.com/vector-epod-setu...
This is the page to upload the firmware for vector
http:/ (delete this after you copy the link) /wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota (this is not a link to click... just copy it and paste it with the ota start command)
3. To activate vector for bot setup:
Refresh the vector-wirepod-setup page and follow the instructions:
Note that the vector-wirepod-setup page is a page which does not just serve one purpose. If the bot is in recovery mode, it puts firmware on the bot. If not, it will attempt to authenticate the bot. You should end up at a screen with an "ACTIVATE" button. Click on it.
If it loads for a little bit then shows back up again, click on it again
Enter the desired settings (can be changed later) then click "SAVE SETTINGS".
Once setup shows "Vector setup is complete!", you are done! Your bot should now be fully authenticated and set up!
4. Link to wire-pod guide on github:
github.com/kercre123/wire-pod... (please read this as it has a lot of helpful information as you go along the way with your installation and further setup)
Install wire-pod with the following commands on the terminal on your raspberry pi:
UPDATE ... in the video I did the setup manually but now things have changed. Please read below, as I just tested the Web Server along with the OTA and the Wire Pod and here's how things work:
I. Vector Robot Setup
1.Connect to vector on the web server, just like I did in the video
1.1. If you see an error about Chrome, even though you are running Chrome, enter chrome://flags in your URL bar, enable "Enable experimental web platform features", relaunch Chrome, then try again.
2. Disable auto setup flow
3. Type wifi-connect yournetwork yourpassword
4. Type status and you should have something like, depending I guess wether it's vector 1 or 2.0, but you should have a basic firmware at build version, without "ep" in it, such as v0.9.0-ec5504e_os0.9.0-6886825-201807091821
5. Type ota-start http:/ (delete this) /wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1.8.ota (this OTA is good for wire-pod, I checked it, can totally confirm)
5.1 After it's finished, just wait for the bot to start and double press the button on its back, lift up the arm, bring it down and you should see OS:1.8.1.6051ep (notice the ep at the end). If you get this, you can move to installing and setting up wire-pod
II. Now about wirepod setup, there have been a few changes so here's how I configured my server:
1. git clone github.com/kercre123/wire-pod
2. cd ~/wire-pod
3. sudo ./setup.sh
4. 3 (vosk)
5. sudo ./chipper/start.sh - after it's done it'll say to configure wire-pod
6. Open browser, go to (insert your wirepod local ip here):8080
7. In here, I use prod pod connection, not IP, and the rest is however you want... I will personally try out OpenAi and Openweathermap for STT and Weather. You can do reasearch and experiment with one or another as this update is way more stable and it seems that I can jump from language to language or from API provider to a different one without messing the wirepod setup and having to reinstall it over and over.
So the OTA wire.my.to:81/escapepod-prod-1... works, I just tested it.
The interface is so much better and it seems to be a lot more stable than the one in which you had to use terminal to set it up and make changes.
6. Enable the server to run automatically at startup using:
- cd ~/wire-pod
- sudo ./setup.sh daemon-enable
- sudo systemctl start wire-pod
7. Feel free to ask any questions in the comment section below.
