Typical Florida: picture-perfect crystal clear beach day, an hour later it's thunderstorm armageddon.

You're using the timer sound as a video clue for finding lightning strikes in your video, right ? Pecos Hank does the same thing using some kind of clicker.

That's actually a lightning detector device that connects with my AcuRite weather station! I know what you're talking about with Hank's videos but sometimes the detector doesn't activate for certain strikes and I'm not outside with my camera so I typically need to watch through the whole video to find all of them.

@@Mjjfanforever988 Lightning Detectors can be programmed to be muted or to enable the alarm beep when detecting a lightning activity nearby. For a more accurate detections you need to make sure to place your lightning detector in area where there aren't many high voltage machines or nearby electronics which can tend to trigger false alarms or no detections. For example - i keep my lightning detectors right infront of the window and making sure that it is away from TVs - phones - washing machines - elevator - wireless devices - flickering lights, as those can cause false lightning alarms or missing detections. I do have storms videos with lightning detectors in action if you're interested 😉👍

I see these common in Florida... the structures... are they so that you can swim in the pool without being affected by the weather?

From my own experience, having grown up in south Florida, you can still be hit by lightning if it hits near or on the water. We saw a little girl wander into our backyard one evening during a thunderstorm, and she was hit and instantly killed by lightning! Maggie, my twin sister and I, were both 5 years old, and she couldn't have been much older than that. Everybody was totally devistated!

It appears convection had a hard time firing in the first few shots, they rise then quickly collapse
