As always such a great episode! Love the knits and the way you show us patterns from around the world. I’m also always here for the vintage patterns. Happy knitting and crocheting 💚🧶💚

I like knitting flat too even though it seems like most people prefer knitting in the round.

Yeaaah, I find myself now always having to adjust the pattern whenever I knit something that has been designed recently.

Thanks for another great vid! A couple things came to mind as you were speaking, have you ever used the russian join when you start a new yarn? I find it quite invisible even in the middle of a project, plus no ends to weave in. Also, when a pattern asks for backwards loop, I usually sub with the double chain cast on (chinese waitress cast on) as it is way more stable and doesn't stretch out as much. I never considered re-skeining my yarn after a project, but it would definitely store a lot neater... I might start doing this!

Thanks so much for watching! And that's really interesting! I had hear about Russian joins, but never really looked into them. Thanks also for that cast on recommendation, I'll have to look into both of those things :)

This podcast popped up right when I was 🤏 close to throwing my knitting OUT the window because I kept making dumb mistakes on fluffy yarn that is hard to frog, so I'm grateful for the frequent uploads 😂 You're flocom (?) vest and cotton tank top turned out so cute! I think you're being hard on yourself, it doesn't look wonky at all. Especially knowing how much you struggled with the fiddly bits at the top. One in blue and white will look so great on your skin tone. Also felt the need to say that you knit-fluenced me into trying out both combination knitting and knitting garments flat and seaming them. And I have to say I'm loving it! I modified my most recent project to be knit flat and it's a lot more manageable to knit a single panel at a time than one huge piece of fabric with a ton of stitches. And I am knitting faster with combination knitting, it was a really easy transition since i already knit continental. But I think my body has to adjust to using slightly different muscles than usual 😂 But we persevere.

lol I'm glad I could prevent that haha! I've knit once with boucle yarn --- it's the fluffiest yarn I have ever used and it was such a pain to see the stitches, let alone frog, so I feel you haha! Thank you so much!! I haven't made a start on the white/blue one yet, but I'm excited to see how the change in construction and fiber content is going to impact the overall finished piece :) Yay!! I'm always happy to hear such positive outcomes :D Totally agree on knitting flat being much more manageable. I find it also way less risky when working on pieces I'm not feeling too sure about, I can see way earlier whether or not something is working out (and/or fix issues way quicker/easier). My muscles had to adjust a bit as well, but I got some really nice exercises from my doctor because of all my shoulder issues and everything has been resolved now. We persevere indeed :)

@SejiFields oooh any tips on regards to exercises? Obviously everyone's body is different but I'd love if you talked about what has or hasn't worked for you.

Yeah sure! So it's mostly just exercises with a resistance band for shoulder (can't remember if I mentioned that in the video), but the one that helped me the most (that I started off with solely at first) was the external rotation exercise. You'll find tons of examples on how to do it if you search up the term + resistance band on google. I hope that helps! :)

Love your red & white top! You did a great job. And I think knitting it flat and seaming was a good decision for the cotton yarn. I’ve heard seaming gives cotton more stability and makes it less likely to grow longer over time.

Ah thank you very much!!! Oh I heard about the stability, but not the growth -- that's interesting! I read somewhere that it also prevents your work from biasing :)
