Is there any way to test if the exercises are ‘working’ for lack of a better way to put it, without doing the specific exercise? For example, for the back of tongue slides, is there a way to raise/lower the back of the tongue without going “eeee” or “aaaahhh” after you’ve done the exercises for say a week? Phenomenal videos nonetheless, keep up the amazing work! :)

I’m good with 1 2 3 and 4, some of 5, but I’m having trouble with the flexing. I was gonna do the Kermit voice, and you talked about tongue clench in the Kermit video, and told me that If I didn’t know what tongue clench was, that you made a video on it, so that’s the only reason I’m here.

Hey New York Vocal Coaching, I don’t know if you will see this comment but if you do then can you post a video of practicing that distortion where you clench the tongue and pull it back at the same time? It seems like Fozzie Bear and Ray Romano have this big distortion to the voice that’s caused by clenching the back of the tongue at the furthest of the back as possible and normal tongue clench won’t get the same distortion. Please do that eventually so I can practice making the distortion of pulling the tongue back and clenching it at the same time. I’m gonna need this to imitate certain voices

Try using different vowels. "Ah", as in fAther, and "a" as in, Apple are both vowels that keep the tongue low. "Ah" will keep the tongue back and low, while "a" will keep it front and low. Try playing with those and paying attention to what your tongue does. -NYSC

exercise 2 was confusing and i dont understand what im supposed to be doing
@NewYorkVocalCoaching
2 жыл бұрын
Hi @Maja, we're sorry that you the explanations seemed confusing. We will try to explain it better here in writing. Try to make a "th" sound like at the beginning of "THis" and then transition that into an "s" like "Snake" and finally into a "sh" sound like "SHush" or "SHell". Then just reverse the order to "sh", "s" and "th". After you can do that, do these sounds as their voiced versions: "th" like "THat" to "z" like "Zebra", and finally to "j" like in "Judge" or "Judy". At the end, Brendan mentions that you can mix the voiceless and voiced to try and challenge yourself, such as "th" as in "THis", to "z" as in "Zebra", to "sh" as in "SHush". You can mix and match those in anyway you'd like. I hope that helps! -NYSC
