Thanks for the trip down memory lane with Miditrack. I always admired how resourceful were software engineers back in the days, packing all those features to just a few kilobytes. In 86 I was using the 4 track Casio SZ1 sequencer. It was a pain in the b## to program, almost useless… But luckily a year later I went to C-Lab Creator and later on Notator with Unitor midi interface/synchronizer. It was like advancing from a bicycle to a fighter jet.

My pleasure and I absolutely agree. S/W engineers squeezed every ounce of functionality out of very little RAM and slow CPUs. Thanks for the comment.

810 hard drives were brown & cream, I think? I just had a flashback to those Verbatim sleeves.

Indeed. There's a picture of an 810 in the video. Thanks for the comment.

Did you ever try Roger Powell’s Texture sequencer? It actually pre-dated MIDI. His original platform was an Apple ][ equipped with a Mountain Computer sixteen channel 8-bit A/D-D/A converter board. It provided control voltages and triggers for Roger’s Moog and Serge modules.

I don't remember that. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the comment.

@@JeffreyScottPetro Texture was the first software sequencer for MS-DOS and was released simultaneously with the Roland MPU-401. Jan Hammer and Stevie Wonder were among its users.

@MultiPetercool Yes! I bought Roger Powell's Texture in 1985 I believe, running on a Compaq luggable. If memory serves, I had a JX-3P, FB-01, CZ-101 and a TR-606. After that, I too went the Atari / Notator route. In retrospect, I should have gone with Cubase, because Notator was pattern based as opposed to linear track based recording, but I was lured by Notator's MIDI notation editor. Those were great days. Actually, before Texture, I was eyeing up Roland's MPS program. Anyone remember that?!?!
