Interesting statement about the tilt windows needing screens on the outside. I had never thought about that because I live in Seattle. All our screens are on the outside. We spray them with a hose once a year when we wash the windows and they last decades. Sounds like that would not be true in other climates.

I get spoiled with casements, which is all we have in our own homes. Never need cleaning.

Back in the 1980 my dad had a reusable charcoal filter installed in the furnace. It had rectangular 1x2 tubes spaced 2 inches apart filled with charcoal. So no real extra strain on the furnace fan, that came from only replacing the 1” filters once a year. Our fridge compressor gas sprung a leak and the fridge stopped working. The repair man asked how was it possible we did not smell it. It was that carbon filter. Here is the problem. To refresh the carbon you baked it at 350 for an hour. I would hate to see the chemical levels that week in our house.

At 18:50 you talk about how you can't just condition one part of the house due to moisture issues. Is that the reason why people say if you spray foam your attic you actually have to condition it too? Very interesting video, thanks

Those interior doors are amazing! I've never seen a detail where the jambs go right to the ceiling and there's a panel above the door that's in line with the door so it looks like one tall unit. Can you do a short video about the door design and the trim details?

Good eye Ryan, but that’s def a topic for one of the builder channel’s instead of ours.

It might be a plumbing trap that is drying out…. Get a smoke making machine for testing plumbing drains…..you have to pump the smoke into a clean out port….. it might be a challenge in test building

Thanks but we addresses that in the vid

@@HomePerformance sorry Corbett…. I didn’t catch that you definitively diagnosed the problem… I thought your suspicion was that it was coming from the space between the drop ceiling and the actual ceiling…… I thought this was merely a suspicion… My apologies… I’m just putting it out as a plumber. we typically will diagnose suspected sewer issues with a smoke machine… (Most people don’t know a smoke machine exists )when I discuss it with them … But smoke machines are very effective at sending smoke through the drain system,…. if you see smoke coming out inside the house, then you can pinpoint the actual problem. In some instances you can actually solve the problem …. Otherwise, it goes out the plumbing vents on the roof.
