Hi, could you explain how to use ONVIF or RTSP directly? It seems like all the camera's have the same IP address and thus I can't connect specifically to a singular camera.

OK The techies at Reolink have you covered. Check out the following link, it shows you that the different cameras are provided by different streams. Ref: support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000630706-Introduction-to-RTSP/

No FACE and PLATE recognition? So I only get alerts for the unknown people or cars? SHAME!!
@smart_home_australia

True, however, this gives solar powered cameras from a major repeatable brand RTSP feeds. Also this is their first version in this area, the technology is only going to get better. Do you know of a similar system that gives FACE and PLATE recognition that is at this price, is wireless, and works with solar powered cameras?

Would this allow you to use BlueIRIS?

As blue iris simple needs an RTSP or ONVIF stream there is no reason why it should not work. I’ll test through the week and see if I can put a video together to configure.

Does the camera itself need an SD card if the home hub has the 2 SD cards?
@smart_home_australia

Great question. Nope. the HH takes care of everything for you. That reminds me I should reclaim the SD card from my Argus and repurpose elsewhere :)

Wait for the "Home Hub Pro". 16 camera's + max 16TB HD

The Pro sounds like a great option, but I guess that will come with a price premium, so its a case of do you need the features and if not then the Home is still a great device. I'll get in the Pro when it becomes available and do a comparison.

A quick question please: is there a Lovelace card (or a custom setup) that gives reolink integration a frigate card-like functionality (access to recordings through interface, mic control etc.)? Thank you so much!
@smart_home_australia

The Frigate Card works with camera entities, so it should be compatible with Reolink cameras integrated into Home Assistant, even if you're not using Frigate NVR

@@smart_home_australia Thank you for your help! Unfortunately, I can use Frigate card but with no more added functionality than just streaming image (and even that for the limited time battery-powered cams offer)...So no access to recordings or mic control). How do you check on those through HA interface?
@smart_home_australia
Ай бұрын
@@sarrisstratos Not that I’m aware. So nothing like the AArlo custom car that gives full access to all functions. But if you do find one then pls let us all know.

Just too clarify, it has 1 gigabit (1gbps) Ethernet, not 1 gigabyte (1GB/s) Ethernet. This is 12.5MB/s I guarantee that this was a mistake and 100mpbs would probably be fast enough, but I did want to clarify.

Yes Stephen, totally correct. I wish it did have 1GBs. But as you correctly point out these cameras run in Kbs or sometimes in low Mbs for hi-def, so 1Gbs so you will be fine.

Hi Could you advise with HA and Reolink Home hub if scenes are exposed to HA? if yes might be good to add a short video, as would be great to set home, away etc for a group of cameras quickly

Hi Nick, I did a quick test and also checked the doucmentation (www.home-assistant.io/integrations/reolink) and it would seem that scenes are not currently supported.

I find the range from the Home Hub to the camera could be better, I keep getting push notifications about one of the cameras disconnecting from the hub. It’s approx 10 meters away, no thick walls or anything noteworthy in between.

Are you running on 2.4ghz? Which camera are you using? With the Argus I’m getting 20m on 5ghz with strong signal but that’s running he latest firmware.

@@smart_home_australia sorry for the slow reply. I was running on 5 GHz but have switched both over to 2.4 ghz now. This seems to be somewhat better. 👍🏻

Perfect, 2.4Ghz has the range but is slower and has more interference as its a congested frequency. However, its totally suitable for these types of uses and for me resulted in great results over extended ranges.

@@smart_home_australia thanks! As this place is in a quiet rural area I’m not too worried about interference, however my internet is running off a Starlink system. I feel like adding a proper router would benefit the quality of the network.

How is Starlink? I have a friend running on "normal" satellite and I'm NOT impressed with the download speeds or reliability and want to upgrade them to Starlink.
