A very thorough overview of Conan's first year at Titan.

Also, you make a good point about younger readers but I have a feeling most kids and teens these days will more likely be introduced to Conan through the video games. It's a different era that's for sure

I like the feel of the book in my hands. Novel or comic. Good video.

Nice review Todd. You know I thought that Doug had done Conan back when it was with Dark Horse, guess I was wrong. You're definitely right about the value proposition of Titan's comics, it's great that it keeps it's prices as low as possible. I still think that Savage Sword could do better but it's not that a big a trouble for me at this point. I'm used to this style now. I'm in my 20s, I think you are right about your point regarding young fans. I think it's a problem that Heroic Signatures needs to work on fixing. Some multimedia projects needs to start coming out that appeal to the younger folk or the fandom around REH's characters will start to dwindle.

If I wanted to read the REH Conan stories in chronological order of Conan’s life what would the order be?
@AnAgeUndreamedOf

@@gentlemanlygeeky4088 There have been a lot of fan arguments over the years over the exact order of the Conan stories. In my opinion, probably the closest is Dale Rippke's what you can find by googling. I don't agree with all of his placements but that's just a difference in opinion. The early stories and the later stories have all been pretty much worked out. It's the stories in the middle where there isn't enough internal evidence to solidly put them in order, and that's where most of the arguments lie. But if you follow Dale's chronology you'll be fine.

Really nice to see a review of the whole Titan run to date. Cheers for that. Also, Heroic Signatures recently published a news article that speaks on the future of Conan. Among the news was a confirmation that Soloman Kane would get a independent mini-series. How long it will run and who is doing it was not confirmed. But they really leaned on how well received Zircher's version was and how "it would be silly to overlook the excitement his run generated." So here is hoping. Zircher's Kane was my first interaction with the character and I loved it!

The volume level on this video is really low. Too low for my hearing loss.

I was going to order Savage Sword of Conan Omnibus from Titan but they are not able to print black and white properly. Their Savage Sword magazine is like fanzine.

The printing, especially on the very first issue, is imperfect. But by letting that imperfection override the outstanding virtues of the magazine- including, but not limited to, powerful stories, great essays on lore and REH's characters, background info on contributors and forthcoming work, and some utterly superb artwork-- you are depriving yourself of some of the finest sword and sorcery entertainment made available since the 1970's. If you truly enjoy Conan and sword and sorcery you are both missing out and denying your support to earnest creators doing their damnedest to honor a genre and character they love.

@@petercollinson8039 Support for quality. I buy the magazines but it hurts my eyes. And I will not buy 100+ dollars omnibus if they not change the print house. There are hundreds of capable print houses around the world.

I don't think the printing issues they've had on a couple issues of a newsprint magazine would have anything to do with how a hardcover omnibus on slick, modern paper prints. If you have concerns, you can just pick up the same onmibuses that Marvel already printed.

So far, I'm not too impressed with Heroic Signatures Conan output. I've read a couple of the novellas, which were nothing special, and the three issues of Savage Sword, which ranged from fair to absolute trash. The lead story in issue one was shockingly bad. The incompetent printing doesn't help either. Beause the Jim Zub story in issue two was decent, I will try the regular series. I admit to being a bit curious about the crossover mostly due to the inclusion of other Howard characters, but I'm not very hopeful. Also, the covers for their prose hardcovers have been lousy. Please do better.

Stop being so depressing. The Conan run is great, you’re a year late to the party
