Are you kidding? Even before you flattened all the layers and before the final line art part, the form and figure is already that awesome.

Awesome work man. Im currently studying industrial design, we have pretty free range in regards to when/ what universe our products can exist in. Since I want to be working in the entertainment design industry, should I focus on really pushing those sci-fi/ near future designs? or focus on modern realistic designs first, and then focus on developing a personal sci-fi style afterwards?
@artofbacon

+JesusLikeBread Thank you. Make sure your portfolio has in it exactly what you want to do. So if you love sci-fi stuff and want to work in entertainment, I would say just do that all the time!

I have a question. It seems like you are taking all those cool shapes from your mind and not from reference, and you have a very well trained mind with a huge library of shapes and mechanism that maybe you studied before. The way the suspension is made, the tires, the seat and details like the hand grabbing thing at the side. So, for how long have you studied vehicles? It seems like you already know what are the cool and functional features of a vehicle like this. The design is excellent.

Yes, a lot come from memory or happy accident. I keep a lot of reference too and usually always have to check reference no matter what I am working on. Here is where I keep my online stash www.pinterest.com/rainierhelens/ I have studied vehicle design for ~15 years. In college I studied Industrial Design for two years then switched to Product/Transportation Design for a couple and then finally changed again to Entertainment Design (about 6 years in total education) then moved into the industry. Thank you Leonardo

+purplegoat2500 That's a great question. I would recommend this book: www.amazon.com/H-Point-The-Fundamentals-Design-Packaging/dp/1933492376 It covers all the bases and then you can get pretty far looking at refs after having a general idea of the fundamentals in H-Point.

Great tutorial once again! I was wondering, are there any fundamental books that teach how to put together appealing shapes and proportions? and also how to space detail and broad shapes? I'm familiar with the principles, visual hierarchy, and composition, but specifically when it comes to hard surface design, are there any books that deal with such topics? Transportation design or industrial design curriculum books would be great, but unfortunately there are no book lists out there on university websites. Any recommendations in terms of books that teach how to develop appealing forms?

If there are any books like that I am not aware of them. I think the best bet would be to look into other areas for inspiration--like graphic design or maybe textiles or architecture. Thanks!

An effective concept design must be inspiring yet relatable, being relatable plays a big part in how your design would be received. And in order to make your designs relatable you'll need to based it upon the visual languages which people are able to understand, and that's where the knowledge of the "predictable" forms comes in handy. In simpler words, you can't design a car until you know the shape of a real car.
