Thank you so much for this video. Your content is so helpful easy to follow. I have a question because I do not use kettlebells, but is this 40lb a practical size? It looks so big , I don't know if it would be too big, especially for a shorter guy as myself. Can we add something to the concrete to get the weight at a smaller size?

Good idea overall, but next better option is to use rounded plastic jar, which is rounded on top and bottom and leave it to for good finish surface. I made two, just pick some stones from local river, they are about same density as concrete. I make handle longer and fit stones in between. Very sturdy weights.

Nice. But you can refine the handle form by making handle jigs. Trace the desired handle shape on the plyboard then drill long screws along the pattern outline. Then you can place the softened pvc inside the fence made by the screws. If you want you can exchange screws with dowels to increase the height of the fence. Also, inserting nails in the ends on the pvc would prevent it from sliding out of the set concrete. Hope this helps.

what if you dip the plates in liquid rubber?
@alexrich9202

You could definitely do that

Thought of that exactly. I would be worried about the concrete slowly chipping off over time.

@@LuKe31197 you would have to dip it a couple of times but it would hold.

How did you sink in the pvc handle? Was there an anchor needed?
@alexrich9202

No anchor needed. Just sink the handle into the wet concrete and vibrate/shake to settle the concrete around the handle

Wrong shape, it's not ergonomic for the clean and snatch move.

My thought exactly. Plus you'd have that sharp edge digging in your wrist and forearm, rather than a rounded surface. Can use this design for KB swings and rows...but not much else

What crappy "functioning" kettlebells.The way you made them will easily hurt your wrists.
