well i mean, the good quality law/army guys are disciplined, high work morale. if they go full bad side, they take responsibility and are efficient, they dont just take drugs and doze off when should be working or whatever. in mexico a bunch of army special forces went bad and made cartel called los zetas. not many of them are alive now, but when they began, they made big stuff happen. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Zetas#Foundation it´s year 1999. "Cárdenas sought out Decena, a retired army lieutenant.[28][29][30] Decena lured more than thirty deserters from the elite Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales (GAFE) to become his personal bodyguards, and later, as his mercenary wing.[31] These deserters were enticed with salaries much higher than what they were paid by the military.[32] Some of these former GAFE members reportedly received training in commando and urban warfare from the Israeli and U.S. Special Forces.[33] ... Los Zetas became so powerful that they outnumbered and outclassed the Gulf Cartel in revenue, membership, and influence by 2010.[49] As a result of this imbalance, the Cartel tried to curtail their own enforcers' influence and ended up instigating a civil war.[50] ... Over time, many of the Zetas' original thirty-one members have been killed or arrested; a number of younger men have filled the vacuum, but the group as currently extant remains far from the efficiency of their paramilitary origins.[48]"

That's L.A. inner city culture in the 80's and 90's, especiallyin the Pico-Union district, even normal square civilians were on some gangster shit, we feared the gangs, so we were armed as well, all we were trying to do was not get killed, defend our families, protect our belongings, and be able to go to work everyday, but sometimes gangbangers were too much, you'd have to end up blasting back! I took a criminal justice class in college taught by a former crash officer. He taught us many different things cops do including how they search etc. I learned a lot from that guy but I was an active addict. I could say that what I learned helped me in my criminal career but after serving 3 state bids and doing time in 5 states out west, down south and here on the east coast...Massachusetts. these videos are helpful to me because sometimes my mindset pulls me back into that CRAZINESS.. this story in particular is helpful as a reference point to go to when I feel like going out and doing something stupid... thank you to everyone involved in making positive changes and helping get the word out there through social media.

Leetwheats Too much corruption in the highest places of authority. For over 12 years now the United States military has been guarding the poppy fields of Afghanistan, guaranteeing the flow of heroin into the world. When corruption exists that high up in power and authority, what are regular people supposed to do. It's sad that people think the Bible is the solution. We choose the good parts and ignore the bad instructions in the book. Read the whole thing! People will say you're lying. The bible doesn't say that. But it does! Too much trust in fellow man and a belief that one group has the right to rules the rest of us. Priests rape children and STILL! The Catholic church and priests are respected.

The 90's in LA was like a mini world war. Every neighborhood was at war with each other all cuz of crack. And the LAPD crash unit and the low key lapd strike force was just another gang at war. They didnt help no one in la . they came to jack and beat the crap out everyone to intimidate . Rodney King was not the only one that was recorded getting their ass beat . They only reason why his video came out was because of a news van that played the tape with out permission by the station . It was on the news back then . Thats why when 2pac started to kick it in South central los angeles alot . He mentioned everyone one in la has a lil thug in them . Yeah aka PTSD !! traumatized by violence Society TBV ! everyone raised here had to become hardcore. thug or not

I remember Palomares, sat next to him in roll call when he worked patrol. He was one of the guys who always smiled and cracked jokes. That is the way Rampart was. It was 8.2 miles of assholes and idiots that generated 125 homicides a year. Dealing with that every day; it wears away at you. If you have a crack in your moral shield, Rampart would find it.

I feel you. But here's the thing, freedom to chose only goes so far. When Wes Watson in this series describes the politics of the "yard." It occurred to me that this whole world is a yard. How is a kid drafted and sent to vietnam any different from Wes Watson giving orders to a newbie. You are going to play. You don't, you die -that ain't just prison -that is life. Do I have any control over the "tribute" I got to pay to my local gov't? I'm looking for a new place to live b/c I can't afford the property tax where I have lived for 19yrs. Is that what 1776 was about? We are always trading one gangster for another gangster. In the end Wes Watson was right about one thing -the prison rules are about safety. The problems start when there are no rules. That's why its so dangerous. Too many people on their hands and knees waiting for the Lord to give it to them. You can make places safe, but you can't do it safely -spankings work.

LAPD CRASH unit was a gang .I live in South Central L.A and I remember they beat one of homies , pistol whipped another and threatened to plant a gun on another homie .One time they picked me up and dropped me off in a gang neighborhood hoping something would happen to me ..Dumbasses didn't know I knew the guys in that hood ..Also they used to shave their heads like Latino gangsters and would cruise by and throw up hand signs (Gang signs in hopes of getting a reaction from gangs in order to shoot them . They raided my home without warrants numerous times. ..I do give them credit though the hardcore gangsters would run at first sight of them But some would just shoot it out with them My area Was cleansed for a while But I know there are allot of guys doing allot of time or life because these cops planted shit on them or lied ....But thank God I never got busted for anything ....So who was he hanging with in prison ? Was he p.c ?

Interesting perspective for real. He’s incredibly lucky that nothing happened to him on the mainline in that Super Max when it was discovered he was an ex-cop. Usually that is the greenest of all green lights. Sounds like he’s found a new calling and is focused on trying to help ppl that truly need a comforting ear. Good for him. Can’t speak on his old life, honestly, he sounds like he was one of the police that absolutely have created the current climate of cynicism and mistrust towards law enforcement. I hope he can continue to put those days in perspective and march onward with a new life and enjoy himself a little more.

That is fkng amazing Herc. Great story. Thank you for this. I suffered from PTSD and almost snapped myself as well. Always appreciate hearing others stories who have triumphed over the darkness that prevails when PTSD sets in without fully realising it.
