What I find funny is Piper lets me configure each zone of my Logitech G703 separately. Something you cannot do with the windows software. Though there is an amusing bug with the mouse where it will randomly swap the zones colors with one another.

If you're using a Steelseries mouse and Piper is not detecting it, there's a known issue with the latest release version (a regression from working the previous version). If you know how to do it, you can build Ratbagd and Piper from source (there are instructions at the respective Git repositories). It should be fixed when the next version is released (though as Michael notes, this isn't very frequently).

I feel like with exception for openRazer perhaps, all these tools need a better name and be more present in Linux user's mind. Including CoolerControl which is a graphical and easy to use UI for fan control built with qt, unless I am lucky to ask someone who knows about these, all these tools all feel so hidden away it'd make desktop Linux a much more enjoyable and on par experience to use.
@MichaelNROH

I think the issue is not necessarily the name as people can cope with different name (e.g. Origin as a game launcher). The main problem is the lack of a proper icon that resembles a mouse configuration software and the lack of a proper description which can get filtered for your mouse brand
I use OpenRazer for my Basilisk V3 (to turn of the LED) but be careful, turning of leads to issue recognize the mouse on boot, better use 0% brightness, this has the same visible effect, but with no other issues.

Solaar is more of a pairing, rather than an actual configuration tool. I guess it depends on how far you go. Key remapping, shortcuts, etc. can all be controlled via Desktop Environments. For more advanced stuff I personally only know of Autokey but it isn't compatible with the new display standard Wayland. Seems like a lot of effort is going on at the moment though. Those are problems that can't get fixed by the Linux community. The tools are in place, all it takes is companies picking up the pace and work on it. What Linux is having is the classic chicken-egg problem. Compatibility issues lead to less people switching over, which again results in poor compatibility because no one puts the effort in. It is growing, but needs to find a niche it can do so faster. Valve found one and its one of the best ways

Why would you want that? Are you experiencing tearing on your Desktop? The Wayland protocol prevents tearing, while a syncronized rate is the default for non-fullscreen applications.
