Hi! Etymology nerd here! The reason aromantic and aromatic are pronounced the way they are is because of their roots Aromantic is the prefix A- and then “romantic” so it’s a-romantic; a lack of romance Whereas “Aromatic” comes from “Aroma,” which is an entirely different root. Aroma means smell, so “Aromatic” is something that smells nice- something that produces an aroma

to give context - there are _some_ pansexual people who define their pansexuality as different from bisexuality because they are attracted to trans people. Basically "I'm pansexual because I like men, women, trans men, trans women, and nonbinary people". When obviously trans men and women _are_ men and women and not a seperate gender that you need a specific orientation to be attracted to. And to some degree it's the same with being nonbinary - Pan people are not the only orientation allowed to be into enbies. Also makes biphobic assumptions about bisexuality excluding trans and/or nonbinary people, when it does not. Now of course not ALL or even MOST Pan people define themselves this way, and it's not something I hear all that much anymore, but it is something i've heard Pan people say in the past. People making generalisations about that answer and what it means about pansexuality is where the unfortunate and inaccurate accusation comes from.

And no, I’m not attracted to everyone like some people think. I have a type, but it’s mainly their personality that can make or break attraction to me.
@Lisa_Flowers
2 жыл бұрын
I explained this in a different comment, but it basically comes down to a stubborn misconception about pansexuality that came about because of how SOME pansexual people have defined their pansexuality in the past. Basically, some pan people have said 'I'm pan and not bi because I like trans people', implying that 1. you need a specific orientation to be attracted to trans men, trans women and nonbinary people, and 2.) bisexuality automatically excludes those people when it doesn't. Both of which are biphobic and transphobic things to say. Of course, It's entirely unreasonable to hold what _some_ pan people have ignorantly said against an entire orientation, and I find the only people who say this are people who are ignorant about what pansexuality actually means, or who like picking fights for dumb reasons lol. But I genuinely do not think most people (hopefully?) think that.

@@Lisa_Flowers That's partially correct. You see pan was originally made by an exclude who didn't belive trans/non binary people fit under bi, so made pan as a full on new orientation to include those two. One thing I really love about LGBallT is that because they're all balls, they don't have humanoid bodies. So anyone can look at them and feel comfortable relating to the identities based on the flag colors. Obviously sometimes a few traditional gender signifiers come in handy for storytelling purposes (i.e. using a hair bow for trans ladies), but overall someone reading doesn't have to think about their body shape, size, level of "passing," clothing/fashion choices, etc and just be the ball! I don't even see the difference.
@Geo_TV

To my understanding, pansexuals don't see gender meaning they are attracted to personality rather than gender identity. While bisexuals are simply defined by Bi is Latin for 2. Bisexuals are attracted to two or more gender identities with or without a preference. Gender Identity has a part in who they have an attraction towards. Then there's Omni sexual which is a combo of both bisexual and pansexual. Omnisexual are attracted to any gender but they have a preference. Take me. I label Myself as bisexual because it's easier to explain to people and it's a label I feel comfortable with but I lean more on the omi sexual side. At the end of the day I'll date a member of any gender identity under the sun but what makes me not pansexual is my focus on femininity. I like "tom-girls" and more feminine-leaning people but it doesn't mean I won't date a non-binary AMAB or an A-gender AFAB or any other combinations. And it's perfectly fine for me to have that preference I am not being transphobic having That choice.

@@japbstudios (: I'm glad to have helped. Please take all the information with a grain of salt. I don't speak for all bisexuals, omnisexual or pansexuals. Everyone's sexuality is different. Take an old classmate of mine who I'll dub Dave. He would be defined simply as gay. But if you break down polysexual, bisexual or Omni sexual he could easily fit into either. Dave is your stereotypical gay male. He acts in Homosexual ways it has a "gay voice". However, Dave is more than willing to date anyone outside the male binary. Here's the big thing that would make our bisexuality different. Dave only likes the male reproductive organs. So he would date and or marry someone who was born with them or someone who had surgery for them. This is flexible as in the 6th grade he had a girlfriend and he loved her as much as a 6th grader physically can. At the time when I met him and until I removed him from my life he simply had the label of gay. But now he fits more into polysexual, Omnisexual or bisexual going off definition. But he probably still uses the term gay to make it easier to explain to people who are still stuck in the 2 gender mindset. Dave has been known to be transphobic but that was pushed by his dad who is bisexual. But his sibling is non-binary and he loves them regardless and I think they are AroAce as well. I'm sure if you were to cup every bisexual in the world into a room gave them a pill so they could understand English, and asked them if they would date a trans person there will be some who will say no and for transphobic reasons. But at the end of the day, the majority would be open to the idea depending on their preferences if they had any. However, people also like to make the arrangement that straight cis people are transphobic and while a lot of them are there's a large amount of them who aren't. Like my roommate who I'll dub Kris. Kris is straight and surprisingly Cis But his straightness has layers. He is open to the idea of dating anyone within and outside the binary spectrum that was born female and or has female reproductive organs. He wants to be a father one day but he is open to adoption. So if he finds a girlfriend in Trans women who had top and bottom surgery that would technically still make him straight as he sees her as a woman.. however breaking it down to reproduce organs like Dave could make Kris Omni, Pan, Poly or bisexual. Depending on what label he feels comfortable with. And he feels comfortable with the label of straight and he is a great ally while he has some homophobic beliefs but I'm glad to have him in my life. 3 of his best friends are LGBT not to mention his childhood friend who might be non-binary.
