Once you work out the tools needed for your hardware and for connecting to the respective BBS it becomes a lot easier :) It took new a few days to work out how everything fits together the first time

Thanks for the video. Im currently setting up a DigiPi on a Raspberry Pi (Software Tnc) which among other things does Ax25. Please keep the videos coming. Owen Vk5kov

I'll keep it in mind :) I should probably do a video on the HF digipeater along with some packet IP stuff as well. Setting aside time to record and edit videos is hard though

@@sjoerdverhiel7215 there's two many ways I know of, basically whats presented in this video using kissattach but providing an IP address using "-i 1.2.3.4" syntax. The other way I know of it using a third party tool tncattach - this has the advantage of needing the kernel (apart from tun adapter module) and can even using TCP kiss interfaces. If you have control over both sides I'd suggest starting with tncattach as it only requires a TNC or direwolf and doesn't require fiddling with ax25 ports, kissparms and kissattach to get working.

Hi, experimenting now with direwolf and ax25. Faced with the fact that there are a lot of immediately retransmits at the TCP level. Without lost on direwolf side (for the purity of the experiment I connect two computers directly via audio cable). Tried, but not help: sudo sh -c 'echo 10000 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/ax0/retrans_time_ms' sudo sh -c 'echo 1200000 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/ax0/base_reachable_time_ms' Did you face such a problem? How do you tune your TCP stack and maybe direwolf settings?

I haven't done a huge amount of TCP/IP stuff but I've found defaults are _okay_ if your patient. It's only 1200 half duplex so you can't expect much

@@xssfox After next tests seems duplicated found that packets not sent to "direwolf". These duplicates appear only in wireshark log. So after tuning some kiss delays: $ direwolf -p -B 19200 -n 1 -I 1 ... $ sudo /usr/sbin/kissparms -p vradio -t 20 -s 10 -r 32 -l 50 -f n Also, after enable ssh compression it works more or less responsive. At least via direct audio connection. Will prepare real connection stand tests. Of course most likely supported speed over real radio will be slower.
