@IAmKingHomey
7 жыл бұрын
+MrNeosantana the actual story is a little different. mustaine new about jeffs age from the beginning but let him audition anyway because he flew across the country just for the audition. he was told hed make it into the band afterwards if it wasnt for his age. jeff then told his guitar teacher about the audition who happened to be marty friedmann and marty deceided to give it a shot. the rest is history. also jeff was slightly younger, 14 i believe. years later jeff would form nevermore together with chris broderick, who after they were done with nevermore became megadeths new guitarist. so jeff introduced two guitarists to megadeth but never actually played for the band itself.

I can see Jeff's picking technique now, it all comes from his wrist angle, see at 2:31 he obviously plays the strings with a lot of power because of the bending of his wrist, damn and 3:03 is a Madness RIFFAGE, the effectivness of his arpeggio playing comes from the freedom he gives to his right hand instead of anchoring it, you can also notice that he is moving his arm while sweeping 4 or more strings

I know you are a busy guy, but if you answered my long and probably boring question, it would be greatly appreciated. I recently set my 7 string down, and started playing 6 in drop c. But this makes me want to go back to 7. My question is, how did you learn? Your song writing, and style of playing is slowing becoming one of my very favorites. We're you self taught? Did you take lessons, or did you take band in school? Or do you not even know how to read sheet music, and have just put so much time and effort into it, you kind of pieced it all together? I have played guitar on an off. I currently am about to turn 21, and I have kicked some life destroying habits, and without picking my guitar back up and getting serious about playing I wouldn't have been able to. And you have really inspired me. I recently picked up some basic music theory books, but I wanted some input from you.

Andrew Dourgarian Merritt Mussorgsky Thanks for the input guys. I just realized how simple the scales really are (I think). As for standard tune, do they correspond like this? There are different scales, each with a different pattern, but all you have to do is move up the low E a half step per key? So pentatonic major scale of F starts first fret of the E string, then you play the pentatonic major scale pattern through the 1st-4th fret from low E to high E. Then if you wanted to play in the key of A, you would just move up 4 half steps from A to the 5th fret and play that scale pattern?
@merrittmussorgsky2937
10 жыл бұрын
Gage Craig Yes in essence half step per key in root position in any scale. I'd grab a good scale pattern book and learn the positions in each key, mastering one key and scale at a time, dont overwhelm yourself. Once you got one key and say the major scale down it wont be difficult to master it in other keys cause its exactly the same shapes and formulas just different notes. Once you got the shapes down really listen to the scale in that key, learn the notes, formula and intervals and start sequencing as well as harmonizing the scale in triads then sevenths chords and arps. Do this for each scale in each key each scale and its modes. Check out Rusty Cooley's dvd on modes and frank gambale's modes no more mystery and the guitar grimore books also Mark levine's Jazz theory book

1:25 and 3:41 are my favorite parts. They remind me of Bloodbath type of chugging, sick as fuarrrk. Especially since the first time is strummed in between the pressing of the frets and then the 2nd time you bring the riff back you just do downstroke chugs between the pressing of the frets, that was a nice change up.
