This has been up for a while but I just found it. Thank you so much for posting this. I have always admired Conrad Viedt as an actor and a person and enjoyed watching this little piece on Turner Classic movies.

Excellent profile! Thanks for posting. It was shown after Casablanca today on TCM and I came looking for it to send to friends. What an interesting and good man!

One of my new favorite actors. I'm happy to have discovered him, as a young actor myself. He is amazing and his performance in The Man Who Laughs is fantastical and other worldly, to me.

One of my top 5 favorite films, no matter how much it makes me cry. It's a dumbfounding, breathtaking tour de force performance.

I used to tell people I look like him until I read in an early review, "Conrad Veit is an unusual looking man."

One wonders if it really was a heart attack . . . or if maybe someone slipped him some foxglove leaf tea?

Probably not. He'd been having heart problems for a while at that point and was taking nitroglycerin pills for it. Besides, it's not like we'll find any evidence for foul play now. Edit: And to be honest, if he was poisoned with foxglove, he'd have been too sick to go out golfing that day considering the number of other symptoms that would have been present.

I love this profile. He was a heroic patriot for freedom. I also love the version of auf Wiedersehen played at the end.

Good video but TCM does repeat the error that he was born in Potsdam. He was born in Berlin.

Just watched a TCM tribute to this great man and superb actor! Wish he received even more roles to make his mark, but he was obviously a humanitarian first, juding from his unparalelleled philanthropy.
