On August 22nd, 2023, the Perkiomen job was profiled to make a move up to Emmaus, Pa, for a cut of as-needed sugar cars for Blommer Chocolate Company.
The day prior, Monday, August 21st, Norfolk Southern local # H11 shoved the sugar loads into the Emmaus interchange for East Penn # P-22 to take inbound for East Greenville. They decided to run their Ex NYC, Ex Conrail, Ex EPRY GP10, No. 7554. When you see this locomotive, it just screams 70's era Conrail due to the vibrant sky blue that Conrail painted their locomotives.
I didn't have a clue about this operation, but I just so happened to check a Facebook page, and I got my intel that I needed to catch this move. I decided to set up shop at a local crossing near me, which is known as Ziegler. Ziegler is the first crossing north of East Greenville Yard and is also the start of the grade Northward. Obviously, the train in this video is going south, downgrade, into the yard, and it's got some speed to it, with the engineer notching up the throttle to put on a show of smoke.
Thanks for watching.
