I remember when this came on at 11 pm on 'Hearts of Space' public radio during Christmas time around 1987, 88 or so. I was in my bedroom with the lights out and a candle and my headphones on. I thought it was spectacular. It really made me want to start composing music along with listening to Steve Roach, Michael Stearns, etc. Thank you Constance! RIP

I first heard this piece during a planetarium show in Denver's Gates Planetarium years ago. Afterwards, I found the full album in the planetarium gift shop and purchased a CD copy. It was my very first purchase of what is currently known as space ambient, but what was then called "contemporary spacemusic." I still have that very same CD in my library! Since then, I have populated my music library with two additional albums of Demby's music, along with similar music by such other composers as John Serrie, Wendy Carlos, Michael Stearns, among others; I also have a couple of spacemusic samplers on the Hearts of Space and Windham Hill labels. It is really a great category of music! Each time I listen, I close my eyes and imagine myself sailing through space on a "ship of music." Of all spacemusic composers, Constance Demby is my favorite! She knows how to take the wonders of deep space and translate them into music. As someone else said, if space could be put to music, this is how it would sound. It is a virtual chorus of stars, planets, moons, asteroids, comets and nebulae. It is the music of the Great Creator.

When I first heard this music years ago, it brought tears to my eyes. I wrote Constance and told her that and she wrote me back, a handwritten letter, and said that was what it was supposed to do, and just let the tears flow.

First heard this when Music From The Hearts Of Space dedicated the whole broadcast to this work. I was amazed and still am. Great visuals here too. She's up there with the classical greats on this one in my book.

The Novus Magnificat is a journey, a journey into the infinite space of our being, but also of the infinite cosmos. An eminently meditative composition, an explanation to the light spheres of the universe. The creativity of this melody that takes us on a solar journey in spiral circles allows us to see the infinite possibilities of Creation. In the beginning it was THE VERB. The verb is the Law of Vibration, the vibration are frequencies of sound, but also of light and magnetics. I hope they vibrate as I experience it. It is a joy of universal joy.
