This video explains the procedure of constant head test to determine the soil permeability. This test is performed on coarse-grained soil with a high coefficient of permeability. The soil sample is first saturated over several days to establish a constant water flow through the soil. The test takes a few minutes, during this test, the amount of water (water volume) is measured over time, and the water heads on the standpipes are measured as well. Darcy's law is used to calculate the coefficient of permeability.
