The Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II marks 70 years that she has reigned in Canada. When she was just 21 she pledged that her whole life "whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service". Despite so many tragedies and difficulties she has kept her word.
The Constitutional Monarchy has profoundly influenced the culture of Canada. It has brought stability and has enabled and encouraged continual improvement.
A consortium led by the US News and World Report measured 76 attributes of different countries and concluded that Canada rated number one in the world. Of the top 10 countries, 7 are Constitutional Monarchies. Our Queen Elizabeth is the Head of State for 4 of the top 10 countries Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Clearly something is working.
What makes Constitutional Monarchies so much more successful than Republics? There is a surprising lack of interest by our universities and lack of education in our schools. This is unfortunate because one of the key ingredients that prevents tyrannical government is respect for the Constitutional Monarch.
