This is a film about the construction and operation of the second Stanley Park miniature railway. As a child in the early 70s I rode this train many times.

I only recently found out this is the second train set up and was constructed after Typhoon Freida in 1964.
from Vancouver Archives:
"Stock dates on the films that have been spliced together to create this item are 1947 or 1967 and 1958 or 1978. Although the exact production date is unknown, the Miniature Railway in Stanley Park went into operation in 1947 so this footage had to have been made just prior for the construction footage and on or after this date for the rest of the railway footage."
"Item is a documentary film documenting the Stanley Park Miniature Railway and other recreational activities in the park. The b&w footage of this film documents the construction of the miniature railway including bulldozing of the land and building of the railway tracks. It also contains footage of a ceremony involving hammering in the last spike as well as footage of the train running along the tracks in full operation carrying passengers and arriving at a station filled with crowds of people waiting to take a ride."
The original film was silent, I added the music
