What are these for? An alarm or what and how do you install the alarm to it or is it just for a push message that door was opened?

Good luck trying to mount them this way on a steel entry door. This hollow core wooden door installation must be to control automatic lighting. It's definitely not an alarm system. Hinge pin sensors are your best bet on steel doors.

Has anyone tried “waterproofing” the VOCOlinc sensors by A) covering the two pieces with plastic wrap, and then B) drilling holes into a front wooden gate door/jam to “hide” the sensors from weather and view?

A piece of tape on the top of the door can hold it in easier and you can remove it later for battery changes.

If the magnets stick together when they are 'doubled up' as shown in the video, they are weaker as a team than they are individually. They need to repel to be stronger together as a team.

Not true, they will be stronger but a bit less than twice as strong www.khanacademy.org/science/physics/discoveries/measure-magnets/v/are-two-magnets-stronger-than-one

I had this idea, then found this video. Seems to me the one in the door can just sit freely in the hole. I see no point in the crewed on bars. The one in the jam-couldn’t it be set in with an adhesive? Since thar one could be seen when the door is open it can be painted to match the jam or, if your ambitious, it could be set a tiny bit deeper and a thin plug placed in the hole, caulked and painted so it’s completely invisible.

Add a lavalier microphone, a fill light, and a hair light. You'll be amazed at the improvements in video quality.

It's good except for the cover which has small tabs that get DESTROYED if some trys to remove it with too much twisting and not enough inward preasure. It cannot be purchased seperately.

The magnet should actually go on the door and the recessed sensor should go in the door frame 😊
