Thanks for viewing - a couple of weeks ago I used the camera loaded with some outdated Fuji Velvia 50 which I rated at 40 ASA and took some photos in London -- the only trouble is with THIS camera is that the Frame Counter is stuck at '36' due to a 'bang' on the corner by the previous owner but it was FREE !!

Is the shutter dial difficult to move? It looks uncomfortable.

I've owned a Contax RTSII and a 137ma since 1984. The handling and lenses are superb. Wish they had continued on marketing these cameras. They were the finest cameras I've ever owned.

I've owned a Contax T2 in the 90s. Unfortunately, it was stolen. It was the best camera I ever owned. Like you, I wish Contax still made caneras today.

Your video just saved my grown-up-with-digital-cameras-ass! Thank you, now I know how to use my Contax 2 that I found in our basement and that my great-grandfather once bought!

The socket just under the advance lever, on the back, is an electrical release socket. The cable release socket (mechanical) is on the front of the camera on the left side (as viewed from the back) of the lens mount.

Nice video, Peter! I bought an RTS today, the first version, but a fresh battery doesn't seem to make it alive. Do you have any tip?

Thanks for the video. A colleague who owned this camera loved it and sang its praises. What Zeiss lenses do you have for it besides the 50mm f/1.4? I know you have two Yashica lenses for it.

only that ONE Zeiss lens -- then I use the Yashica lenses

Hi Peter i have the chance of a RTS at a good price .My main setup is a Canon F1n and its a tossup between the Contax RTS or a Canon New F1

Thanks for videwing and comment -- I would say that Canon FD lenses are cheaper and more available than Contax / Yashica fit, so stay with your Canon.

My shutter button doesn‘t work, I always have to use the manual one even though I inserted batteries, does anyone know why that could be?

Supposedly contact issues in the electro magnetic switch is common but also a relativly easy fix. Send it to a repair shop and have them change light seals and mirror foam at the same time. Its a brilliant camera and well Worth it if it is in otherwise good nick.

I have a Yashica fxd quartz camera with lenses that rotate to infinity in the opposite way to my Nikkor and Pentax Spotmatic lenses. Annoying.
