What do ya think of the gpt3? I can't say I'm not impressed but it would be a lie to say that it doesn't deserve a deep thought about the potential for catastrophic consequences... Intention is all fine and dandy until it be self aware and realizes we're just monkeys that love pressing buttons and likes to lie about it, especially to other monkeys... I'm pretty sure we'd be lucky, to be as fortunate in that situation, as the monkeys we currently have today... Or maybe it'll be better at that too..🤞

Greetings from the United States, Dr. Marinac. I'm a first year J.D. candidate in the U.S., and I wanted to thank you for the content on your channel. Because of the shared common law root of American and Commonwealth laws, your content has been very useful in my studies. A big thank you from a 58-year-old guy in China who has zero legal knowledge but interested in getting to know something about it. I finished listening to Oliver Wendell Holmes’s Common Law on KZitem yesterday, began listening to your wonderful lecture last night, and just finished it now at a pier in Hong Kong while taking my morning walk. Amazingly, I found myself able to understand Contract Law, all because, I sincerely believe, of your concise, no-nonsense way of lecturing. I also like all those cases you cite in your lecturing. They really help. I wonder if all those cases are Australian, or do lawyers and judges from Hong Kong to Australia to Britain to the United States cite each other?
@AnthsLawSchool
2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm very glad you have found my videos useful, and a little surprised they can be seen in China! Many of the cases cited in this video are British, and (in Australia anyway) it is not unusual to look to other common law nations for guidance, including pre-1997 Hong Kong. All the best!

I have just finished watching this while taking lots of notes along the way over the course of a few weeks and this will definitely help with my upcoming contracts law exam. Contract laws must be agreed to so they are valid. Common Law is the law of the land.
@AnthsLawSchool
3 жыл бұрын
Well, no, and no. Contract laws need to be made in the same way as any other law: by a parliament or by a court establishing common law. Whether an individual person agrees with contract law or not has no bearing on its validity whatsoever. Second, common law is not "the law of the land" to the exclusion of other types of law, such as statute. What you are saying sounds very much like the positions taken by the sovereign citizen/Moorish movement - the most ignorant fringe group in all of the law. If those ideas are attracting you, you really need to think again. I won't be engaging in this argument any further, and if you reply with some sort of Sov Cit screed, I will delete and block you.

Hello Anthony. I am currently a UK law LLB student and I am wondering if your resources will apply to my study? Technically you are covering australian unedrgrad law, however I find your videos way more informative than any workshops we attain at our universities. The research possibilities are so broad and the context of our studies is so wague, that I struggle to understand how I should work in my free time. Would you say that your videos will remain relevant to my study? Awesome work. Kindest regards from UK
@AnthsLawSchool

Hey thanks so much, I really appreciate your feedback! 90 percent of this material will work in the UK, except that obviously none of this takes into account the effect of EU law on contract law (Australia not being part of the EU). Certainly this video will help you wrap your head around all the concepts. The only HUGE difference is that estoppel works rather differently in the UK, so read up on that in Halsbury's. Good luck!

Contract cannot be accepted by 'silence' - that could be deemed a Foisted Contract. "Sovereign Citizen" types use that technique. If you haven't replied to them within three days, in your silence or non-responsiveness you are deemed to have accepted their terms by 'acquiescence'.

Is he from Australia?? Can't nobody understand him with that thick accent.. Wow and the volume is low and my volume is to the max! This is extremely BORING. Everybody cannot teach.

Yeah he is from Australia and so far 3000 people have been able to understand the accent enough to like the video. Not sure why some people have volume issues with this vid - others don't. Hope you find something less boring than contract law to watch, and better teachers to teach it to you. I'll just keep doing my thing over here for those who like it 😊

I'll do my best! The next one will be criminal law, as soon as I get a chance to record it :)

Appreciate you Anthony. I'm struggling to understand contract law from really heavy texts with so much legalese.
