Hello! 🙂Great video! I have a converted scooter to 48V 13S8P battery and 48V 1000W motor and I have the VESC 75100 and the VSETT display. It all works via the Android phone but I have a VSETT display and since the VESC does not have a high-voltage cable like normal non-programmable controllers where you can set each display to red + black - the display switches on and the blue cable connects the display to the controller Signal at e.g. 48V charged 54.6V immediately returns a signal of 45-50V to the controller and thus switches on the controller. So I connected the VSETT Display Rx/Tx cable to the VESC aufTx/Rx and uploaded the Lisp file to the VESC for my VESC and VSETT Display. But then he writes below that it is not connected and that the display must be connected to the VESC so that I have to switch on the VESC with the VSETT display! It says: no paired. I PLEASE you, as a professional with this electronics from the VESC, can you tell me where I can put the plus + cable from my VSETT display external display to the VESC because the VESC does not have a high-voltage display connection like normal controllers! Question: where do I have to connect the red + cable from my 48-60V VSETT display to the VESC? Because I can't connect it to the VESC with a 5V output, can I?? I connected Rx to Tx and Tx to Rx but as I said, the Lisp file for the VSETT display tells me after uploading that it says below in the tool: no paired. And that I have to connect the display to the VESC. I can switch the display on the permanent plus on the battery directly to + and - and set all the P settings and also set 3 gears but the kmh on the right side doesn't work with the E code! And in the description of the Lisp file it says: if you upload the Lisp file then the E-10 code is gone and kmh display works. I PLEASE YOU can you tell me where I can connect the plus + cable from the display to the VESC 75100 so that it is connected to my VESC? PLEASE! I would be so grateful to you!! Because I can't go to 5V on the VESC with a display + cable, right?? Kind regards. 🙂

Do u have idea to control vesc by step/dir interface??

This is like the only video out they that talks about this…. I’m trying to make a big trike with 18x9” tires on huge fat hub motors. And need to use a joystick so I can turn by having one side slower then the other. Not sure if they have a template for that? Also is there a way not to use the uart? Like using an analog output for a normal ebike speed controller? They only use a 0-5v 3 wire setup to increase speed etc..

I have a dual channel VESC(with one battery port and two independent UARTs) and am trying to control it via ESP32(coz of multiple UARTs). Which is very similar to what you have shown. I just have 1 doubt. Is it possible to have one motor running and the other in regen braking, when the battery port of the VESC is common or the setup is powered by a single battery? If not, then how can that be achieved with one battery port. Please do let me know.

I dont think you can charge and discharge a battery at the same time, so I dont think that's possible.

Hi, I am trying to do soemthing similar. I have two VESCs MK6 and they are powered by a single battery. And I am trying to control the VESCs independently via Arduino MEGA through UART. But from the manufacturers manual, they say that if I follow similar setup it will create ground loops and affect the hardware. Did you face any ground loop problems? If yes, how did you overcome it??

I have the same setup but with the hardware serial ports in the Arduino MEGA and I haven't have any issue

hi , Sir could you show how you can self balance with brushless motor with the vesc ( reverse and forward fast without stopping if possible?)

is it possible to read the rpm from the vesc to an arduino and light a led strip depend on your speed ?
@finallyfunctional

Yes. You can have the VESC send the RPM to the Arduino and then have the Arduino do whatever you want with that value.

I show it in this tutorial. The sample code calls `vesc1.getVecValues()` and then prints out the RPM.

Hi sir, really interesting what you have done here. I am also trying to create a similar setup. However in my case I need to control the arduino from a GUI (Matlab most probably). I will also need to read some sensor values which will be shown in the GUI along with the motor control options. Do you think such setup is possible with multiple VESCs?

Hi Doruk. I haven't used Matlab, but yes I think what you described is totally possible. I'm actually going to be doing the same thing with the VR shoes. I'll create an app that allows me to control the motors and display values from hall sensors. If you have any questions feel free to email me at alex@evansalex.com.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm trying to run your setCurrent example, and the output waveforms look great before I plug the arduino into the VESC, but once I plug it in it stops working. I'm getting the error "avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout" Any idea why this would happen? Firmware?

Excuse me, I study developer openvr driver from your video, thank you very mush, in my env, i use windows mixed reality and Samsung MR,In vr app, i set controller config, use custom setting for my driver, but it's not take effective, the controller settings auto set default always, how to deal with it? thank you .
