But giving anyone a platform to wax-poetic while not challenging their actions only serves to normalise their regressive policy choices and brush over the impact that it has on the average citizen. Much like Malcom Turnbull's recent backflip on climate change and renewable energy, Anderson and many others like him rely on the idea of debate while using it to misinform and pass harmful legislation. Politicians should rightly be criticized for their actions in parliament. I'm not arguing for a suppression of debate but there is certainly a threshold that once passed, your opinions can safely be disregarded. I do believe that we need to look at the Christian basis for the enlightenment (human rights really originated with Judeo-Christian values), and also that the Enlightenment did indeed include many bad and even evil things like the Reign of Terror. In fact, the fact that the Enlightenment excluded the Creator from the scientific laws made the Enlightenment lose its anchoring in morality, which later led to bad movements like communism and nazismen.

Hmmm, . when I first saw Mr Fraser speak after his retirement from the houses of Parliament, I was confused by his sensible speech, by how nonpartisan he really was. And then I saw the limits of party politics. I had been a pinko socialist. Fraser's Razor Gang slashed the gains of Whitlam. I was sent through 4 years of Art School at the tax payers kindness. We were paid to study. The Tertiary Education Allowance Scheme funded my late adolescent wanderings. When I was 35 I went back to part time study, and accrued HECS costs , but I was working now, as a nurse. So part time video and animation study was possible. In 1996 I saw Keating being propagandised by the ABC ('public' broadcaster) --- an animated ending of the Elle McFeast Show had Howard falling from high in a ball of flames. The partisan self-interest of the 'public' broadcaster was on display. My brother was a card-carrying member of the ALP. Apparently the odds were stacking against even coverage. It seems they spent my brother's 8 cents a day , and my 8cents a day on the same ALP narrative warfare. The inane smugness of the intelligentsia turned me away from the ALP. I wasn't alone. There was a massive swing against the arrogance. Whitlam splurged the post war wealth of the nation. My son is still paying it back now. It wasn't easy to be a spoilt brat boomer when I opened my eyes and read history. You can blame the boomers if you like, but it's from ignorance to do. If you think about it - how could you not vote for austerity - for responsible economic management. Whitlam and Dunstan cured me of Charisma Politics. I don't need to " like " a person to vote for them. I don't need to "feel good" about my vote. If you are attuned to emotion, if you are driven by fear, revenge and envy, then keep voting for your adolescent heroes. You may never wake up.

He's being very broad, *be specific* This is the into though so you generally start general and get more specific later on 4:15 *State education* State has some role? What role, *be specific*. Maybe he gets into this later 4:52 *Things have shifted* ? Would you rather Noam Chomsky or Ben Shapiro decided if you could get married to your husband Dave. 5:14 *Progressives are just super liberals.* Maybe from some perspectives that's valid. I don't see the "liberals" as actually liberal though. Obama and Bill are moderate conservatives. Obama for example passed the conservative health care plan from the 90s. It was championed by Newt Gingrich as an alternative to socialized medicine. Mitt Romney as governor of Massachusetts passed this in his state. Bill Clinton deregulated wall street which given the FDR roots of the liberal party is the most unliberal thing you could do. *These "liberals" are equivalent to moderate conservatives from the 80s* 6:00-6:30 *Progressives don't have an ideology?* Bro wtf are you talking about. I want regulated capitalism to prevent: *The tendency towards monopoly/oligopoly to promote competition*. Most economists, such as Kaynes, have noted that capitalism unregulated will lead to this state. In our life time 6 corporations own the majority of banks. Amazon, what's amazon's competition? Disney owns 40% of their entertainment market (ever wonder why the new star wars sucks? They don't have to compete and write good stories) There's like 6 cable companies in the US and they all region themselves off to avoid competition with one another. I think that if these corporations are no longer competing, they need to be broken up to keep the economy healthy. (Plus when 6 banks go under during an economic crisis and it threatens the very stability of western civilization, that's too large a threat. It need to be taken down) *Labor exploitation* .www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/ Real wages have been decreasing since 1979. You know, sort of the beginning of the Reagan-Clinton political era *Equal rights under the law* Everyone says they're for that though *One person one vote* The rich & wealthy have insane influence over our representatives. Through campaign contributions representatives represent their corporate donors, not their actual constituents. scholar.princeton.edu/sites/default/files/mgilens/files/gilens_and_page_2014_-testing_theories_of_american_politics.doc.pdf Campaign finance reform will ensure the average voter has a stronger political voice if the way we fund campaigns is changed. So far that's just a massive generalization & *strawman* 7:51 *Progressives are just tribal* Bro everyone's tribal. The most extreme of this can be seen in conservative evangelicals who'd think anyone that disagrees with them is somehow influenced by the devil. The best way to curb this natural instinct is to recognize this natural tendency. *By all the broad generalizations and straw-manning I don't think Dave has done this* 8:43 *Feeling based ideology* -Wage decline www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/ -Climate change These are meta anlysis on the subject of climate change crops- www.nature.com/articles/nclimate2153 ocean- onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ece3.516 The carbon cycle. Some organic carbon is trapped in the soil. Over millions of years this carbon reservoir grows and is shaped into oil. These carbon sources are used in combustion. All combustion releases CO2. Atmospheric C02 rates increase when combustion is ongoing. The return of atmospheric CO2 is fixed or decreases based on the amount of biomass( plants of cyanobacteria). Atmospheric CO2 increases with combustion. CO2 has a relatively high specific heat value compared to other atmospheric gases, making more atmospheric CO2 increase atmospheric temperatures. -Overly privatized health care Total health care cost will decrease between 2-5 trillion over 5 years if a bernie sanders policy is implemented. This saves the average american money by shifting the healthcare payment from a private system that has no incentive to keep insulin prices low(It costs 15 to make a vial, it's 150-500 to buy a vial depending on the type of insulin). Some form of government intervention is needed to keep healthcare prices low, Im not convinced that there is a private solution. -Gay rights. All people should have equal protection under the law. Justice is blind -Campaign finance scholar.princeton.edu/sites/default/files/mgilens/files/gilens_and_page_2014_-testing_theories_of_american_politics.doc.pdf *Again, strawman*. You can disagree with my reasoning but it's not a good faith argument to think it's based on feeling. 9:27 *That's an ancedote*. The majority of evangelics that are "applauding" him don't want dave to have the right to get married factsandtrends.net/2018/05/08/growing-share-of-evangelicals-supports-same-sex-marriage/ 10:55 *Broad generalizations again*. Idc about your general feeling about the political narrative. *I want specifics* 11:24 *Everyone is for good things and against bad things* Well at least everyone says they're. He's assuming progessive don't want these things, dude. *strawmaning* 11:29 *In equality* He's mocking the progressive opinion of extreme wealth inequality? We're at a time when the wealth inequality is comparable to the gilded age. Most economists warn against this, saying it has massive repercussion on an economy. Even the federal reserve warns against it. *The lopsided distributed of wealth is a problem*, objectively. He's mocking it? Do you have policy solutions to fix it? Oh work harder? I guarantee I work harder than you Dave. 12:20 "I actually think" Meaning progressives don't consider what others think. I'm fucking obsessed with what people who believe differently than me think because I'm afraid to be wrong. *Strawman* 13:24 I want to return to the FDR-Kennedy model of liberalism, not the current OBama-Clinton model. Bro wtf are you talking about *strawman* 14:00 *I'm skeptical* the point of this video just seems to straw man and overly generalize your political opponent 14:21 Bro then why won't you sit down with progressives. You tout your presidential guests but you've repeatedly refused to meet with any progressives on the show? Dude nothing in here is a simple fundamental truths. It's defiantly simple tho.

@@manacondamuffmangler4232 Spent 15 minutes, replying to you. But it seems this site stop it. You work for them, sad to see the fascism. Just make one point because I cannot be bothered to write it again. You do not know what CO2 is. Methane is just a big greenhhouse gas, easy to cut, effect fast. UN steers to not meet the target. Spends money that we pay in climatefines to build CO2 emitting plants in the third world. And all you said was strawman stuff, which you lobbed on others. Like the marxist you are. @@dnciskkk9037 I know what CO2 is, I have a bs in chemistry broham. Methane has twice the specific heat of CO2 so yes it's actually a worse greenhouse gas. When we use methane as a fuel we don't just release it into the sky we combust it CH4 +2O2 -> 2H20 + CO2. Note that the water to co2 ratio is 2:1. People tout methane as clean and efficient because that ratio is 2:1, no other fuel source has that high of a ratio. That is why, chemically speaking, it's the best for the environment. The very reason you're promoting methane fuel confirms the the logic of climate change. Did you even know why people promote that? Why they call it clean and efficient? As for the bernie sanders thing I was referring to economists who study sander's plan and calculate what it will save as an aggregate across the united states. Here's a study showing it's 3 trillion www.peri.umass.edu/publication/item/1127-economic-analysis-of-medicare-for-all As for me working for "them". Bro, comon. @@manacondamuffmangler4232 Sure, you have a degree in chemistry, hahaha. Just as every other child states, in every discussion about healthcare, trade, climate, etc. Never fails, after getting shafted on facts, you all tout credentials, I am a doctor, engineer, international trader, etc, hahaha. And it seems to me, that a chemistry person would understand my comment was about the emission of methane gas. Not "combustion" emissions from using methane as energy. Would also think you used another word than combustion, hahaha. Very unnatural. Would also think you would know that the heating effect of methane is 25 times that of CO2. Would not think you would be so incorrect, and type that it is only double.. Your little pretend play about credentials needs work. I have got no clue about what you try to articulate about methane+water, regarding to emissions from "combustion". It is just a fact that methanepowered energy has low emission of CO2. Your pasted stuff about water has no relation here. And using biomethane, means you also use methane that would otherwiser be released into the atmosphere. So you take that out of the equation, so that is reduction of greenhouse effect. Not less emissions, actual reduction of the total. Seems like a person with a degree would know such things

The standard introduction is 53 seconds: as if the audience had all the time in the world to be lulled into a contemplative mood to understand the deep issues. It appears as if you are working to a very old fashioned tv format, rather than the net. Just get to the interview ! 10 seconds is the most you can ask before the audience feels 'boring' and moves onto the next youtube clip. I love your stuff, but new watchers will not stay.

Two of the finest men on television, at the moment, in one studio.......Wow! From a very depressing United Kingdom, you two provide some hope! But, we need to be wary of talking about 'religion', as a single phenomenon, as a positive in human civilisation: just as there were two concepts of 'revolution' in your discussion (the American, and French, versions!) so there are different 'religious' contributions to civilisation; and one of those is the Islamic one. Would anyone consider that Islam has anything to contribute to modern civilised society. Remember, Dr Bill Warner's definition: 'ISLAM = KORAN + MOHAMMED'. To be wicked, perhaps Isam would produce the 'French' version of revolution; whilst it took Christianity to produce the American form. DAVE: In your description of contemporary, forgiveness-denying, 'religious' social justice - "They will tolerate you as long as you keep bowing" (or 'submitting?), does that remind you on one particular World 'religion'? And I hope you realise that most modern 'Arts' undergraduates will not have a clue what you are talking about! "A salvation narrative?" No chance!

While I absolutely accept and celebrate that humanity most seek and find transcendent values,... *_MUST_* such values necessarily rely upon supernaturalism to ground them sufficiently? While there are many things free people *_should_* do,.. what *_must_* free people do? *_Must_* meaning, do what is required of you, or be killed. Given that no form of mathematics can arise nor exist without the creation and use of axioms,... statements that are taken as being self-evidently true and not requiring any effort to prove,... what does this say about humanity's efforts to create means by which to govern ourselves? Anarcho-capitalists talk of *Rules without Rulers* ; what then are these rules, how do we arrive at a consensus of what these rules are, and what happens to those who chose to dissent from these rules without having the state there to enforce them? *_The difference of opinion in my community is a divine mercy._* ~ The Prophet Muhammad (Peace be unto him) *_If all mankind minus one, were of one opinion, and only one person were of the contrary opinion, mankind would be no more justified in silencing that one person, than he, if he had the power, would be justified in silencing mankind._* ~ John Stuart Mill *_He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them. But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion... Nor is it enough that he should hear the opinions of adversaries from his own teachers, presented as they state them, and accompanied by what they offer as refutations. He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them...he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form._* ~ John Stuart Mill *_Every difference of opinion is not a difference of principle._* ~ Thomas Jefferson *_It is clear that the individual who persecutes a man, his brother, because he is not of the same opinion, is a monster._* ~ Voltaire *_Even despots do not deny the merits of freedom; only they wish to keep it for themselves, claiming that no one else is worthy of it. Thus our quarrel is not about the value of freedom per se, but stems from our opinion of our fellow men, high or low as the case may be; indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that a man's admiration for absolute government is proportionate to the contempt he feels for those around him._* ~ Alexis de Tocqueville *_There are two kinds of restrictions on human liberty ~ the restraint of law and that of custom. No written law has ever been more binding than unwritten custom supported by popular opinion._* ~ Carrie Chapman Catt *_It is important to remember, as has well been said, 'the essential characteristic of true liberty is that under its shelter many different types of life and character and opinion and belief can develop unmolested and unobstructed.'_* ~ Charles Evans Hughes *_And to say that society ought to be governed by the opinion of the wisest and best, though true, is useless. Whose opinion is to decide who are the wisest and best?_* ~ Thomas Babington Macaulay *_Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one's thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down._* ~ Frederick Douglass *_If large numbers of people believe in freedom of speech, there will be freedom of speech even if the law forbids it. But if public opinion is sluggish, inconvenient minorities will be persecuted, even if laws exist to protect them._* ~ George Orwell *_Public opinion, in its raw state, gushes out in the immemorial form of the mob's fear. It is piped into central factories, and there it is flavoured and coloured and put into cans._* ~ H.L. Mencken
