It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better kzitem.infoUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

... the entire project can be done with a $20 circular saw off Craigslist. Nails can be hammered in or you can opt for screws instead. Everyone should have a screwdriver... Sandpaper is optional. I hate when people say they can’t do things because they don’t have the tools... this is the simplest project i have ever seen and people like you have the nerve to say you need a whole industrial workshop to do it because they can’t think for one second about how this can be done another way.

Could’ve also cut the plywood spacers (slides are attached to), the height equal to the spacing of the holes for the pins used the shelves. Place the plywood (slides) with pins under and pins above. That way you could just have the shelves sitting in there and could raise or lower them when required. They wouldn’t go anywhere as they’d be held up by the pins top and bottom. Great tips. 🇨🇦👍🏼

Love it! I'm imagining a pullout organizer for my wife's hairdryer and curler that could fit inside our bathroom cabinets using some metal "cup" inserts to receive the hot items and an integrated power strip. Seen this done? The trouble is we have only door cabinets with the center stile.

Recently I converted our whole pantry (cupboard style) into pull-out trays. Each side had 3 shelves, plus the bottom. So 4 levels. With the trays, I was able to increase it to 5 levels, because I could make 1 or 2 levels very shallow to hold small things like cans or small items. That won't work on regular shelves, but for pull-outs it's perfect, because you can open it to get the small things at the back.

You might find humor in the 27 y.o. Czech girl that was completely scalped, ripping her face off from her eyelids, tearing them, her eyebrows, her forehead, scalp and hair to the back her neck completely off when A DRILL CAUGHT HER PONYTAIL...this drill was "corded" so not "staggering" enough to take the all funny out of the hair in drill joke nor are the years of excruciating, painful surgery she endured.. but anyone who's spent their life around power tools, cordless or not, has seen enough tragic loss of eye, finger, or limb in freak accidents to know better than to make light of safety precautions... and the 6,000 seriously injured people who end up in the ER every year from drill accidents ALONE.. ..simply because a drill wasn't taken seriously enough to observe safety precautions.

@@abelagosi3449 I’ve spent my life as a machine mechanic, bridge builder, heavy equipment mechanic, business owner, Drag racer, farmer, sawyer, wood worker. I’ve seen a lot of injuries and I make lite of all injuries cause 9 times out of 10 it was stupidly that caused the injury. Including me falling 50’ off a bridge and I laughed about it as I laid there with internal injuries and broken wrists. You have the chance of dying everyday you walk out of your house. Did you buy the biggest pickup you could buy cause it would be the safest ride vs a Prius? Did you install a 5 point racing harness in your car cause that would be an excellent safety precaution. Best safety precaution you could do is stay home oh and make sure no hard wood floors cause they’re slippery and make sure you get the grab bars installed in the shower. If you have kids don’t leave a 5 gallon bucket of water around I hear kids go head first into them. Stupid shit is going to happen or in your words accidents to me there are no accidents just stupidly. Learn from you stupidly no matter the injury some have even give it all that’s just the way it is it’s life. Oh one thing I’ve never seen is a drill injury. Then pull out drawer member partially to attach the drawer; less margin of error. Also, on the drawer slides, those little tabs along the outside can be used for easy width adjustments. I myself learned the hard way lol. Great vid and your eyes are to die for :)

Your drawers have a design flaw. When opening a drawer you pull at the front board. If you attach it in front of the right and left board then thats weaker than gluing the front board in between the left and right one. That way nails go from the left and the right into the front board which is a more durable design
@virginiaoflaherty2983

Yeah I did that too! Thought about where the stress would pull on the drawers. I also cut little channels (don't know the proper name) for the 1/2 " sides to fit into the base, and also used screws instead of staples, and glue. Super sturdy, going on 12 years of overloaded drawers and lots of heavy use.

*I knew* there must be such a thing as a non-pneumatic stapler!!!! This is extremely important for the kind of stuff I build! I need one! I need to not use nails and screws for everything, they are too damaging to surfaces. But, how do you remove them when it's time to move? Hopefully, there is a tool that can do that just as efficiently as this one puts them in! I won't be able to do this exact project because I rent, *but* I can see a way to do it that would be temporary and removable with zero damage. Thank you for your wonderful work! P.S. begging you to use safety precautions is not "bashing" you. Nor is suggesting improvements to the design. Hi Ana! I love your idea for full use of space in lower cabinets. I might just mention that one shouldn't let the tape measure retract uncontrolled and let the hook at the end smack the housing. Over time letting that happen can make your reading not true when exact measurement is important. The hook is made to be a little loose, but repeated whacks will change the attachment. I hold my index finger under the tape as it retracts and it stops the hook before the whack. 😉

A family member has all pull out drawers in the lower cabinets. I want this for my next kitchen.

The box is much more convenient - the shelf :) Ana, why you made only one box? Indeed, in the lower part of the access tables are not comfortable :( Mark Fisher, Ukraine.

Hi, Ana. I love this idea. It'll make for much more organized storage. I don't think you took into account the finish on your shelf/ drawer bottom, though. It'll prevent the glue from bonding to the bottom. Staples may be enough to hold it, or you could scrape/ sand off the finish before applying the glue. Thanks for the video. Dan

I just took a break, in the midst of doing this very procedure, to verify how many screws you used to secure the shelf mounts :). Thank you for your empowering videos.

I think you did this video before you did the one with an easier method for fitting drawers on slides? Wish they had dates on them.

Could've mitered the four sides and applied edge banding to the top of the sides for a more professional look. You can get prefinished maple for these projects. Now after making pullouts on the top, you have more of a reason to make a pullout for the bottom (try to reach the back bottom with even less space in front to do so)!I'll bet you have done so by now.Fun project and with all of the new self-closing hardware it can really change an old inefficient set of cabinets into a more functional modern version.

I have the stainless rack type which we bought at a very high price and yours are much nicer. I would add one on the bottom too as it helps you store and get to things in the back much easier- especially as you age.

You did such a wonderful job. You encouraged me to make my own instead of asking to my husband.

I *love* your project ideas... inspirational! 2:50 Stand the project up on end, let gravity hold things in place and it will be easier to staple. And give everything a light sand BEFORE putting it together.
