You saved the best bit for last Roberto - what a mover! Very thorough guidance, but my goodness me, that looks to be the dictionary definition of convoluted. If it would keep those memories intact, it would surely be worth the effort. Nice to see Jerry make a late appearance too.

I should put my outro at the start.. 😆 my rock and roll career never took off. Yes it is a bit much and these days its so cheap to get a pro to transfer it anyway.. Doh.. 🍌🍌

I didn't have any equipment. Only film on reel. And I actually photographed every frame of the film with a camera. I worked all day. And I managed to convert 3 minutes of film into video in 2 weeks, working like this every day.

Thats amazing. I was thinking of doing that also. Big effort. That would be the best quality by far. Nice one 👍

The best way to have the most shaper image as possible is to scan the film. But for a very low buject, just take a simple clean white paper put in the wall than put the projector over it with a film. Put the phone next to the projector (or camera) over the paper off-course than hit the rec button. Don't put your film digitized into a DVD disc, you will automaticly lose alot in picture definiton. Put it on a Bluray disc or even better, in MP4 FHD. Because now MP4 files can be read almost everywhere, not the Blurays . If you can work your film's images to make it more sharper, you can even finilized it in 3K 1620p or in 4K 2160p into MP4! And into MP4 you can do as many copys as you want. Same with the VHS or other cassette formats converted into MP4 but not recomanded higher than FHD. Cassette tapes with medium quality pictures, myself i convert them into 960p MP4 but always into 16/9 - 1.78.1 frequancy with the black bars to preserve the original 1.33.1 (4/3)aspect ratio😉

@@fanfadeos great advise thanks 👍. I recently bought a wolverine which is not the best but the professional setup is impossible to find and cost thousands of dollars. The paper on wall is good. I researched 2k pix is approx what super 8 is although grainy of course but no harm upscaling to 4k. I originally did DVD but they all broke lol 😆 after 20 yearr when I first did it. They are all on drives and I put on KZitem so family can watch too

@@robdido And i forgot to say about the white paper on the wall. To have the best picture quality in that way, turn-off the lights to be in total darkness that no light will interfer into your picture. It will help you to have colors much advanced etc. Yeah i heard about the Wolverine is not a professional tool unfortunately if even it was made for it. The professional studios also use the scan way with off-course the professional tools for it.😁

Interesting video Roberto, but as you said, I'm no MacGyver when it comes to digital "stuff", I did try to do it myself but it got very complicated, so I sent VHS tapes and super 8 movies to a professional lab, they transferred everything into 12 DVDs, they really did a great job, it cost me about $200 (USD), I made copies and gave them to relatives and friends. Be well and stay safe.

Wow that is awsome. I was wondering of cost and prices have come down a lot. 20 years ago it was much more expensive. A great thing you did. The family must be so happy. Nice one 👍

Would you be able to put a modern day LED bulb in place of the old bulb? Considering the kelvins and the lumens of course? Or would the LED one get too warm? (because I've seen bulbs with the same leg type, like mine has)
@robdido

Im sure it would work. Maybe get lower watt and test it on start of the reel in case it burns the film. As for whitebalamce not sure but you could change in post

Why do you use empty audio tape reels for your films?
@robdido
6 ай бұрын
Are they audio reels?. Didn't know. The person that spliced all the 3min reels together must have done it that way. So to get one big reel of all the similar films together. They fit ok and no problem playing back

@robdido

Yes that is the better way. Getting rid of all reflections and matching best speed is the best way. In a controlled room with a good screen. Hard to find a good projector that is working like new.
