Thanks Tim for taking the time to make the video. It is great to see the real deal of someone making it work, instead of trying to guess which of all these adapters out there will work.

Great info thanks! I am looking in to trying to set up a corny keg in my small fridge without drilling any holes. Not sure if the keg will fit but this would. Now that you have used it for a while how many kegs (and what size) will 20 OZ of CO2 pump?
@TimTrabold

I have never used it for anything other than a travelling source of CO2. I would guess that you could push 1-2 kegs, depending on if you used it to force carb. I usually get 5 or 6 out of a 5lb tank.

I have purchased a paintball canister of co2. Is it going to be safe for homebrew?
@TimTrabold

I don't see why not. I get my paintball canister filled at Dicks and Sheels sporting goods. I have read that any CO2 bottle > 50 lbs, like the ones they fill paintball canisters from is by default food grade and Airgas told me there really isn't a difference, except for testing and labeling tested bottles. FWIW, a friend of mine went to Dicks to fill his and mentioned that he was going to use it to push beer and they refused to sell it to him. He went to another Dicks and kept his mouth shut.

"washer out of pop bottle" Which part of the pop bottle do you use to make a washer? Just out of curiosity. Sounds like a good trick to have in the back of my mind.

I just cut a standard 1 liter PVC pop bottle apart with a good pair of scissors (or maybe tin snips). It took a bit of fitting but in a 4 or 5 minutes I had a washer that worked in a pinch.

Hi Tim !! Thanks for the video. Just one question, Do you have to take the gauge off and use the adaptor also to recharge the tank right ? I bought one 12oz tank here in Brazil but I'm having trouble to find this adapter. Thanks again !! Nice video !!

The adapter screws right on the top of the tank but it needs to be on ypur regulator first or it will be wide open once it pushes the pin on the tank down. I bought it at Adventures in Brewing, homebrewing.org. You might try Ebay or alibabba. Ebay says they will ship this one to Brazil: www.ebay.com/itm/CO2-Paintball-Tank-CGA-320-Adapter-cylinder-paintball-Regulator-Planted-Fish-A/312108246797?_trkparms=aid%3D333200%26algo%3DCOMP.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20190129125700%26meid%3De703106e16204f3d873c6ea8fcdebcb1%26pid%3D100752%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dag%26sd%3D273153126413%26itm%3D312108246797&_trksid=p2047675.c100752.m1982

Fábio Oliveira Thanks for the comment. Sorry, but I really am not sure where. If you can ebay or alibabba in Brazil, I would try there. I searched ebay for paintball to co2 regulator and there were a number of them.

With the 20oz tank, will it be sufficient to force carbonate a 9.5L Corny Keg if we need to?
@TimTrabold
6 жыл бұрын
I Googled and found the following on MidwestSupplies.com: "If you are using the CO2 only to dispense the beer, not to carbonate it, you may get as many as thirty 5 gallon Cornelius kegs out of one 5 lb. CO2 cylinder. However, most homebrewers are also using CO2 to force carbonate their brew, so this brings it down to around ten 5 gallon Cornelius kegs out of one 5 lb." While I have never tried it with one, I bet it would work. Based on what Midwest says and not knowing if the 10 kegs carbonating also includes serving, here is what I calculate. Since 5 lbs is 80 oz, with 20oz you could carbonate 2 using up 16oz and and push 1 1/2 kegs with what is left at 2.66oz per keg. I supposed it also depends on the carbonation level you want.

Thanks Tim. I hear you're using 5 gallon Corny Keg here as standard of comparison. Since I only brew 2.5 gallon (9.5L) batches, hopefully I should get close to 4 carbonation out of the 20oz tank then.

Thank you for going to the trouble of making this video. It is exactly what I was hoping to find. I have a 12 oz paint ball tank and a 3 gallon corney tank. This video is the solution. I am working on a carrier for this rig. Perhaps a waterproof bag with a sleeping insulation mat that is cut to the shape of the corney tank and fitted inside the bag to insulate the corney tank. What do you think?
@TimTrabold
6 жыл бұрын
It was my pleasure. A carrier is a great idea. I wonder if insulted grocery bags are large enough. Maybe you could cut the bottom off of one, the top off another stack them and seam them in the middle.

So far, the grocery bags I've seen are not strong enough to support a 30 pound load. That's the weight of a 3 gallon corney tank plus the paint ball tank. The only bags I've so far identified are the rubberized bags used for kayaking and rafting. These are spendy though: ~$60.00.
