Thank you so much. I turned off the filters in my approximately 20'x40' inground swimming pool in 2015. It has been a heck of an adventure, I've made probably every mistake possible. My first mistake was using soil in my floating islands so when my plants grew much taller than I expected they tipped over the islands and spilled the dirt. I've killed off my least hardy fish more than once by overfeeding and creating ammonia spikes. I never feed now. I love water hyacinths because they are heavy users of nutrients and go great in the compost pile for my vegetable garden. I got free koi, the ugly ones that nobody wants, from a breeder and "feeder" goldfish for pennies at the pet store. They all breed like crazy and they bring in wild birds to eat the extras. I swim in it even tho it's not pristine and clear. Some day I'll figure out how to pump the muck out of the bottom and it will be even better. In the meantime it supports itself and I love it.

Thanks Paul 👍. Midgees are worse than mozzies. I put platies in my animal troughs. Definitely some Lillies and valisinaria perched on some milk crates.
