Yes I agree we want to see you succeed. I think we were coming from the angle that eventually this is going to be your woodshed it's gonna be partially open to the elements anyway we just wanted you to get in before winter, into something that's gonna keep you dry and warm and safe. This is not going to be your permanent home. You'll build that later once you have all this experience under your belt and we'll be right there with you.

Massive TWY fan too. Just makes me love the channel even more. On Wednesday it was a year since my daughter passed away. The channel has been helping me through what's been a big greif-y pit of depression. In April I got a memorial tattoo for her. We took prints of her hands and feet as she was passing, which I got tattooed on my left forearm. Surrounding her hands and feet are the lyrics from Cigarettes and Saints. "I'll bury your memories in the garden. I'll watch them grow with the flowers in spring. I'll keep you with me". Some of her ashes were worked into the ink, so I'll keep her with me always. Thanks for being a shining light during the dark days for me man. Keep doing what you're doing.

This made my heart sink…I couldn’t imagine the grief you have to endure. I love that tribute and I think you chose the perfect lyrics for your memorial of her. Nonetheless, thank you for sharing such a personal and beautiful piece of your life 🙏🏼

You absolutely did the right thing fixing those walls now. For the side walls that you built, you could have easily built a square wall on the floor measuring from your lowest point. Then when you lift it up and secure it, you can block in the top. This will eliminate any cutouts to your studs, weakening them. Please, don’t take what you built apart though. It is fine and will work. Also, you should double up your header for your door opening. Like you and some commenters have said, we are not criticizing to be mean. We want you to succeed and you’re doing a great job.

A small trick when framing a doorway. Just install your studs with a solid bottom plate across the opening. Take you circular saw with the narrow side of the saw foot against the stud and cut out the bottom plate - this will be 1 1/2" wide (Stud to cut). Then install your jack stud on top of the 1 1/2" bottom plate stub. Much easier.
