Someone on the Ghost reddit hat a really interesting interpretation of the song. In this case, the "devil" would represent your inner demons, like addiction, that someone is trying to overcome. With the line "Light up in the middle of the day, for how else could you see me" the woman in the video lights up a pipe. In the end, the boat docking could represent crossing the path to the after life, symbolizing death, so she couldn't fight her inner demons in the end. It's very eerie looking at it like this. Also, "Call me little sunshine" is a quote by Alastair Crowley, and the cover of the single replicates one of his famous poses. Ghost's lyrics are always full of surprises where you think 'ah it's just some meme about devil worship' but often there's a lot more to it. Just the genius of Tobias Forge at play again! :) As always, loved your reactions!

Also to me with "Little Sunshine" I can't stop thinking about Harpocrates (Ancient Egyptian Deity) which represents the newborn sun rising each day at dawn and the embodiment of hope. Alastair Crowley mentions him in 'Magick' and represents him as the embodiment of your higher self and your higher self being your own holy guardian angel. Alastair Crowley calls him Heru-ra-ha which means Horus sun-flesh

Lucifer in Latin is from "lux", light-bringer. Morning star (Venus) etc.. But that is different from SATAN, the devil, as described in the Bible. All the Bible says about Lucifer is that he is an angel. And Mephistopheles is a story from Germany about a man selling his soul to an angel or demon called Mephistopheles (but that is not a real angel/demon in the Bible. That is a mish-mash of Greek names). But Ghost the band is very mischievous, they often portray themselves as a satanic church or "opposite church" lol.

Its about drugs. "Light up in the middle of the day, for how else would you see me?" The video has more depth: -The devil cuts her train car - shes falling off the wagon so to speak. -She starts smoking (what i assume is opium, given the steampunk theme), after which the devil pulls his pitchfork 'switch' and redirects her traincar, leading her away from the path. -she smokes again, but this time she collapses and looks lifeless(overdose). -Her car rolls onto a ferry ship, indicating she had died. This is reinforced by the lyric "even when you're dead and gone, you can always reach me". (Referring to the ferryman Charon carrying souls into hell, across the river Acheron) -she steps off the boat (the only time in the video she is outside the traincar, the devil freed her from her fate I suppose) to meet the devil face to face. This is the only time she truely sees him as before she only saw him after smoking. Im not a huge ghost fan but heres my take on the song: as a philosophical study, its pretty shallow, but the video certainly picks up the slack. As music, it's a fucking BANGER. I love it.

I listened to this song and was blown away and my brother said it was very catchy and he hasn't heard any of their other music and I was like: Oh, you have to hear 'Square Hammer' 'Rats' and all the others.
