@@YourBabylonPlants Great I'm glad you knew that :) This is a very informative video and simple which is so nice, the only thing I'd be concerned about is newbies doing it this way without knowing what you know and because they didn't put the 1/3 of leca at the bottom first, the roots will definitely be sitting in the reservoir and rot :/ But hey, learning curve I suppose lol. Either way thanks for sharing!

Do you really have to use an inner pot? Can you not have leca in the bottom where the water will go, then more leca, then your plant and then more leca? After awhile the roots will grow down to the bottom of the pot but they will be water roots so won't that be alright?

Hi Mark. Once the plant has been converted to semi hydro. Can the plant be potted back into soil at a later date?
@YourBabylonPlants

Hi Andrew. That's a good question and the answer is yes. It will be a conversion process again as the roots will adapt. It's similar to how many plants/veg/fruit is grown in nurseries. They often use hydroponics then transition them into soil for sale

Hey no. Because I’m using that feed and I wash the leca out - I check every 2 weeks ish and I alternate between a full flush and replace with feed/water which is also a declorinator or I just top up with boiled/cold water so it’s distilled
@ChelsieNotChelsea

@@YourBabylonPlants p.s. boiled tap water isn't distilled water, it's just 'sanitised' water. If you can, boil rainwater as it's the next best thing to distilled water, without having to spend on a distiller! :)

Hey no - many plants are grown in water even food is grown which is full hydroponics. The roots adapt and change
@kaydeecee8753
4 жыл бұрын
The roots aren’t actually in the water. They are above the water source and the clay balls draw liquid up to the roots as they need it. I have heard tho that there can be a bit of a transition with the roots and new roots will form to the new medium and old roots will die off. So you have to be aware of this and not panic thinking your plant is dying.

Hi James. I added extra tips in my description for this and semi hydro is designed to sit in water with nutrients. Full hydroponics plants live and grow fully in water only. The feed is a lower quantity than what you would put into a medium like soil. Any other Qs just let m know
