Love this song. Conway wrote this great story song. You can tell Joni Lee was nervous. She was a teenager when they did this song. Like others have said Joni is Conways daughter.

😂😅😮 I saw that coming. He moved away, she had to go on living her life, not become a spinster, lol. It's country, you get a natural twist, not a fairy tale. Conway always had a wonderful voice, my parents played some of his albums. Mom saved the Bee Gees for when dad was gone 😊

If you love Conway's voice so much, how about doing "It's Such a Heartache", "Who Did They Think He Was", and "I Hurt for You"? I could list Conway Twitty hits all day.

No reactor has ever reacted to Conway before he went country. Her had number 1 hits as a rock &roller. "It's only make believe" Danny boy, Is a bluebird blue, Lonely blue boy. This was the late 50's early 60's and with the English invasion in 63 and 64 a lot of the original rockers went country like him and Jerry Lee Lewis. He did a record of called R&B 63 and one other before going country in 64. It was when he switched from MGM to Decca. It's like his rock&roll past has been erased.

its a sweet/fun song and its important to take it like that - because if you dont its creepy af especially the implied moral/lesson, that he shouldn't have waited. Regardless I agree - conway had a great voice :D

Always loved this tune. I didn’t realize it was his daughter till I was an adult. Makes it creepy if you look at it wrong, but it’s just a song, and it’s greatly written for its time Update, to answer your question: I honestly first heard it in the early 70’s as a 7 or 8 year old, so I don’t think I really knew what it meant at that age. But I loved the song

Yes, I was so upset over this song when I first heard it. For some reason, I didn't think it was going to end well after he returned. Intuition, maybe? I'm not sure, Then when i heard it, i thought uh-oh. At that time, it just so happened that I was 15, & i met my 22 yr old husband ( ex now) & i was so scared he would not wait until i graduated. As it was, he did break up with me when i was 17 . 💔I was crushed. 💔My Senior year in high school, he drove to my high school looking for me. Tried to get me to go back with him. I was so afraid because my heart was still healing.😔 It took a LOT of weeks with him wooing me, but we finally married. We eloped. 😮😅 Also, This was on my list of songs for you to react to Hari. Guess I'll choose another one of his goodies. 😊
