This homemade tomato soup is so creamy and full of flavor. It uses lots and lots of basil, and is best served with a nice grilled cheese on some sourdough bread. The recipe is below-I hope you give it a try!

TOMATO SOUP RECIPE
Ingredients:
-onions
-carrots
-celery
-garlic
-basil (lots!)
-4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
-2 cans tomato puree (or crushed tomatoes)
-splash of heavy cream (optional)
-salt/pepper
-sugar
Directions:
1) Chop onions, carrots, celery, and garlic.
2) In a large pot over medium-low heat, saute vegetables in olive oil or butter until onions start to become translucent. Add a pinch of salt along with the veggies. Continually add basil as each round gets wilt-y.
3) Add in vegetable (or chicken) broth, and bring to a simmer. Add in tomato puree and summer until carrots are smash-able. Again, keep adding basil as it simmers.
4) Using an immersion blender (or very carefully transferring small batches into a regular blender), blend soup until smooth. Taste and adjust salt level, and add a little spoonful of sugar if desired.
5) Add a splash of heavy cream and taste again. Adjust salt, pepper, and sugar levels. Serve with grilled cheese.
