Does the pan not heat up more due to the oil and food not being in direct contact? I thought those things had a tendency to melt in those types of situations?

I’ve been using one of these for years. There is nothing better than a brew of tea & a bacon roll in an English woodland. Greetings from Sussex England

We developed a similar little ritual when we were out on hikes together. Although we could have taken a flask or not bothered, we'd take one of our Trangia's, usually the 27 or Mini, and cook something or make some tea to go with our lunch. It was just fun and made the trips a little bit more special.

Your point about foregoing breakfast until you get to a cool spot is very cool!

It sounds so simple, but it has changed so much for us. Instead of a hurried breakfast at camp (often shaded and during the coldest part of the day), we eat in the most breathtaking spots. It’s funny how little changes and adjustments can really change an experience.

Best thing about these is nothing complex to break or go wrong . Lasts a lifetime. Best stove for real cooking outdoors where you cant get a fire or fuel for a twig stove/ kelly kettke is unavailable.

I also own a Kelly kettle and love the idea and application. It’s a little less convenient when you have kids and you’re in national parks were fires are frowned upon, but it’s an awesome piece of gear.

I love my Trangia and I have hiked with it. If you going to Europe we do not have Heep so you are either looking for meths or Fuel oil it becoming an issue.

That is normally where I get mine too, but when we are traveling I like the smaller and more portable bottles of HEET. Thanks! It was a trip of a lifetime and hopefully the memories will last exactly that long!

Aluminium toxicity?
@35andRetired
Жыл бұрын
Hmm…I’m no chemist but isn’t aluminum foil considered food grade? Despite its rating, I can imagine anything in excess could become a problem but I’m guessing the occasional camping meal wouldn’t be a problem. That’s a fair point though, I’ll look into the temp that aluminum foil is rated for…

@@35andRetiredYou are fine! I'm almost 50 and was raised on food cooked with aluminum foil. I have NEVER heard of ANYBODY questioning this in my life. I kind of find this hilarious but worrisome simultaneously. Lol

@@35andRetiredThere was an article or rumour that aluminium pans could cause Alzheimer’s disease, this has been debunked for a long time now. People use aluminium foil for grilling and oven roasting all the time. Having said that i personally don’t like the idea of frying using aluminium foil lining the frying pan. Non stick coatings have also had health scares, my personal preference is for the anodised aluminium pan or the Duossal pan. Lovely scenery and having watched a few of your videos I like the way your children play and behave, enjoying themselves but not being a nuisance, quite rare these days to see kids away from their devices.
