You have to get all the red off ,so that you only have white meet, then soak it in buttermilk, and of course deep fry it with a cornmeal batter.. mmmliscious

Bleeding the fish would have helped but you Must cut the red meat out of All catfish!!! Then you need to cook it longer than most fish. Frying you should drop temp down to 365 instead of 375 and cook it 2 more minutes than other fish....

I always bleed sailcats when I keep them, and I find that makes the meat a lot whiter. Then I brine them in saltwater before cooking. I love them.

Bleed it, Buttermilk soak, Batter and fry it. Definitely wouldn’t be my first choice in preparation. Love that you have the family out making memories with you while you work. 20 years from now your daughter will love you for all the time spent together. Cortney is a trouper too. Just never forget to take your shrimp or sand fleas out of your pockets after surf fishing…that’ll get you a time out from momma 😂.

If cooked right, Sailcats are pretty good. They MUST be bleed out, and then I soak them overnight in buttermilk. I usually barbecue them in tinfoil in bq sauce. Will never be as good as flatheads, but I still like them! I'm very impressed with how buffed you and Cortney are looking! Good job to both of you! So you two getting enough sleep? You both look tired (which I understand why, considering how busy of both must be). Anyway I want to congratulate you on the success of your shop! When you first started, I was concerned, because of the state of the economy. However you have made some good business decisions, with a good team! I love your family!❤ God bless!

We eat Gaftops all the time, they keep better if you snip the gills and bleed them as soon as they are caught, once you fillet them, fillet goes straight into salted ice water for 10 minutes, then season and fry. Tastes just fine.

Do y'all not eat freshwater catfish in Alabama such as Blue cats or channel catfish I've eaten Gafftop a lot and ive always thought they were very good . Could it be your pallet is just accustomed to other species that you just don't give the Gafftop a chance? BTW I'm not questioning your taste in fish I totally understand I'm just curious could the Texas Gulf Gafftop and Alabama Gulf Gafftop taste different? Both species are protected in SC and must be immediately released! Ive never could any salt water catfish in the Atlantic off South Carolina coast

Thank you for this video bro! I think it was the first time I ever saw anybody do a cash and cook on a sail cat. I had always heard that they're super delicious, I don't know from first hand experience though. So kind of like what you said about not having too high expectations and then it'll be okay. Maybe you should have tried to brain and bleed it immediately after it was caught. Otherwise trying to take a huge bloodline out like that, probably wouldn't leave too much to eat. Thanks again, GOD BLESS TGBTG!!! ✝️🎣🐠

The sail Cat fish is good but you have to sterilize all your meats and vegetables in cold water with a little of white vinegar and let it sit in the water for another 15 minutes to 20 minutes then clean it off with cold water and you want get sick from the food you catch from the water and even the food you buy from the store, and it's the original soul food Grandma good cooking way of purifying your food and vegetables, and as the old heads use to say be careful eating out at restaurant all the time because some of these places don't do that to their foods they are serving to the public people and a lot of these people are nasty dirty unclean people work these places if you go to their house 🏫 it's nasty and dirty So you get sick from not practicing purifying everything in this world 🌎 because you don't know where it been and who hands have touch it that is unclean in this world 🌎 but other than that it's all good and you could took a fork to get all that red blood line out the meat before sterilizing it in white vinegar so keep some in your kitchen or as Grandma use to say stay out my kitchen 😊❤👍🪝🐟🎣.👑Z👑❤️
