Norma here, In defense of your mom, I think she probably meant that we hear of so many suicides on the news and through social media. Celebrities who have committed suicide and people that you wouldn’t think would ever do such a thing. She’s so sweet being willing to offer her time just to listen and talk to someone who might need to talk. Poor Levi didn’t like that question very much. He’s so honest though. He said no job cause he’s lazy. No further discussion needed. Lou, you keep such a clean and organized home plus work a full time job. We all know that cleaning your fish tank is on your to do list. I’m not a fan of tater tots, but that “hot dish” looks like a quick, easy meal. Which state is the largest producer of honey would be a great jeopardy question. All your viewers would know the correct answer. lol

I think Gigi meant she wanted to help young people , because there is so many today who see that as an alternative to dealing with their pain these days. I took four years of psychology , and that was going to be my goal, to counsel mostly abused children. But young people in general. I have a seventeen year old grandchild who is terrified to become an adult because right now things are so crazy in the world. I think the young people are scared, confused about so many things these days. Our morals have become almost just gone. It’s like we are becoming barbaric human beings, with no love or compassion for one another any more. And the drug issue , the transgender issue, so many things have our young people confused and hurting. And I think it is all bye an evil agenda in our government. We need to save our young people. We need to teach them values, hard work, and compassion for others and respect for Gods earth is what can help them get thru these hard times. I am not a fix everything with a pill kind of counselor, that’s why I don’t have a job. I am a fix it with Jesus kind of counselor. Love you all, and I applaud Gigi’s love for the young people, and wanting to save our youth.

So just because you don’t know of anyone, doesn’t mean there aren’t people right under your nose and under the same mindset. I can think of two in your family right now that this could happen to. Lou, I don’t know if I’m remembering this right, but I think you don’t like onions. If you are making a recipe that calls for onions, you can buy frozen already cut onions. Or if a recipe calls for a half of onion, have “Olde Dan” cut up all of one, put the rest in a ziplock bad and freeze it. I’m not a fan of canned vegetables unless it’s tomatoes. I buy frozen vegetable and find they taste better, less salt and the flavour tastes fresher. Cooking the casserole for one hour, you can add the vegetables frozen. If you don’t know, honey from your local area is good for people with allergies. I think it helps your immune system. I grew up north of North Dakota (Saskatchewan, Canada). It’s mostly dry weather, can get extremely hot, almost as hot as Texas and extremely cold. Temperatures can range from 40°C to -40°C, 104°F to -40°F. Dan, you could go work at country clubs and mow grass all day. Perfection is the name of the game with them.

Tater tot hotdish is made here in Minnesota quite often, the only difference between our recipes is that I use frozen mixed vegetables like the peas, carrots, green beans, and corn my first recipe called for a large can of Veg-all I don’t know if ya’ll have it there in Texas I’ve never seen it while I was there. And yes, the recipe calls for putting them in rows in the same direction, I did do that for the first 20 times after that, I just started laying them in one layer. It took too long to put them in rows. I enjoyed your video today. Cooking with Dan and Lou. Keep up the good work.👍🏼

What an awesome video and the dish looked delicious. I think everybody truly enjoyed it this week. Dan, I will have to say I think you misinterpreted what your mother said. I don’t think she meant to say she knows a lot of people that committed suicide, I think she meant to say she knows there are a lot of people who attempts suicide or have thoughts of attempting suicide and she would like to be a solution for them or hope for them to not do that. Your mother has a humongous heart. She is such an amazing loving woman, and I think she would make an awesome counselor. And what a testament to the fact that she doesn’t even want to charge anybody for that service she wants to give her help and advice her service freely. We need a lot more people in the world just like G!

My dream business would be to open a house for the elderly or veterans. I loved my 6 yrs of caregiving so yeah if i could open a business i would buy a huge property and build a big house with lots of rooms and i would invite veterans and maybe even homeless people in and take care of them til they either pass away or til they can get on their own like maybe have a training how to get a job. Teach them how to budget their money so they can get themself a place to live. I think i would enjoy just helping people in need.

LOL.... Levi says oh no you're not suckering me into that one😂 I'm too lazy to work lol. We all know what Gigi really wants to do.. she wants to own a saloon so her girl Kim always has a place for business 🤭🤭 The meal looked great but Dan I have to say I bet it would have been a lot better with some of them homemade biscuits, I kinda been missing them. I saw something the other day that may help you and it may not lol. I don't recall what you bake biscuits on but I saw someone that bakes hers on 500 and they came out perfection. She said the reason for that is when you cook them at a lower temperature they are in the oven too long so the key is to cook them quick and get them out of the oven so they don't dry out, makes a lot of sense. Just thought I'd pass that on as a little secret for you. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead and much love to y'all 💜

The things I would do differently with this hot dish is use frozen vegetables instead of can vegetables. You get so much more flavor and nutrition from frozen vegetables than you do canned vegetables.

9/5/24-- I would have never know Dakota is known for Honey!! … The supper was like a good Southern casserole meal. I’ve fixed it several times….My job would be anything that my kids and I could do together. Like a restaurant with only Southern cooked meals and a food truck with the same meals. NO hamburgers or tacos!!……♥️🤗to all!
