Here’s an update on our fall planted cool flowers! These seedlings were planted in the fall and are being overwintered as baby plants. It’s currently mid-February and I’m starting all my cool flower transplants that will be planted outside 6 weeks before the last frost. These are all hardy annuals that thrive under cool conditions.
Foxglove Seed Starting Guide - I am starting a first year flower foxglove.
DAYS TO GERMINATION:
14-21 days at 65-70°F (18-21°C).
SOWING:
Light is required for germination. Do not cover seeds or, to hold seed in place, cover lightly with fine vermiculite. Bottom water or mist to avoid covering the seed with displaced soil. Harden off and transplant out 6 weeks after sowing
Sweet William Seed Starting Guide - I am starting a Sweet William (Amazon series) that does not require vernalization.
DAYS TO GERMINATION:
7-14 days at 65-72°F (18-22°C)
SOWING:
Lightly press seed into growing medium. Harden off and transplant out 6 weeks after sowing.
