It's a primitive and a inefficient way to do this. The cement consistency is too watery to fill these gaps and make them water proof. This is a problem in India, we don't have trade schools to teach them methods to be efficient and provide quality work. From the looks of it, they could've thrown some sand and cement mixture into the gaps sweep it into the gaps and spray water on it.

These are NOT regular indoor tiles. These are more like red bricks formed to the shape of tiles. This method ensures the whole floor is watertight and nothing seeps into the concrete base below. This method is proven to withstand the boiling Indian sun and monsoon rains for years on end.
@lakan3462

@@jarjarbinks3193 are those tiles made the traditional way? Here in my country for example, outdoor tiles that are sold are already heat and water proofed. We buy them in D.I.Y depots. That's why a lot of us got confused. I think the description of the video was way off the mark. The description should be "Traditional way of laying out roof tiles in India using cement and hand made tiles".

You want to run a piping bag over 2000 linear feet? That's no better than this and you would still need a cleanup that would take forever. They need a runny mix, trowels and a hose. I could do this job in about six hours.

Use red oxide with cement to match the colour of the press tiles. There should be atleast 1 cm to 2 cm gap between each tile. Add a waterproof compound along with cement and red oxide. And there is no need for this much amount of cement mortar.
