@@B0redom13 It's just much more of a fantasy world than the other two entries in the series. You have a windmill castle with an elevator at the top that leads to a furnace in the sky, and yes I have seen artists representations that show the scenery making sense spatially but I digress. You have trees with faces on them that moan, you have a demon wearing the skin of a frog, the clothing and weapon designs are much more fantastical as opposed to the gritty realism of 1 and 3. The colors are incredibly muted but at the same time give out a sense of storybook illustration feel, the way the characters talk, Sweet Shalaqouir as a prime example who talks very much like an Alice in Wonderland character. The wholely negative feedback Fromsoft received on DS2 is why DS3 was "a DS1 clone" that everyone still criticizes for bringing nothing new to the table. DS2 has plenty of glaring issues, mostly due to how funked up its development cycle was, but its diversity in weapons, level design, environments, etc, makes it my favorite out of the series despite its flaws. If the majority of consumers were capable of providing more nuanced feedback and criticism, acknowledged that DS2's troubled development was to blame for the majority of its issues, and praised the innovations present in DS2, Fromsoft might've not been so reluctant to mix things up while developing DS3.

Awesome video, i was giggling like the sitting hollows in the Copse. Let me add some more : - After you kill the Demon of Song, instead of going into the Undead Crypt, you go further into a tower. It is blocked with a petrified hollow very annoyingly in SOTFS. Anyway, there is a door up in that tower that only opens if you are dead, meaning slightly hollow. At the end of this section, there is a shrine looking structure with milfanito singing. There is also a strange statue there. If you have no Human Effigies in your inventory, that statue heals your hollowing. - Contrary to this, door to the room that contains Vendrick's soul and crown can only be opened when revived form hollowing. - There is a special plunge attack animation if done on Mastodon Knights, Giant Fire Salamanders and Giants in Memories. As far as i know, it only works if you do the Forward + R2 from a higher ground. Standart dagger has a hidden crit modifier and one shots even the biggest giants with this. I always do it in Doors of Pharros and in memories to have silly fun. Animation is rough tho in DS2 fashion but still fun to do. This is not unique to ds2 but not widely known. I believe Giant Salamander in Forest of the Fallen Giants is the one people are aware of. - Talking to Nashandra before the duo dragonrider boss, marks the undiscovered bonfires in the teleport map as blank. It lets you know there is more without spoiling anything. Very cool feature. - Rotten has a little guy directing his moves on his shoulder and when the left arm gets cut off, director falls dead and drops a pharros lockstone. Strangely, his corpse is cut in half. - Mirror Knight has a different summon animation if he is summoning a real player into the fight. He stabs the ground with his sword and holds the shield with both hands while summoning a real player. Normally if its an NPC, he holds it with one hand and does not let go of his sword. To me this is such an epic detail. - When you save the milfanito from the cell behind the Embedded and use the elevator to go down, you can hear her singing even tho she is not there anymore. - If you invade in Dragon Shrine and the host has the Head of Vengarl npc summon, when you kill Vengarl his head falls off. So far this only happened to me once and i could not replicate this in single player. Extensive testing needed. I might have hallucinated but i do believe it happened. I remember enjoyin that very much since that is how Vengarl dies in his lore.

@@jimbojones8208 I didn't "miss the point", I have agreed that the pirates do not wake up, but clarified that the light doesn't "do nothing", it exists to show that the Darkdwellers are scared of light, probably a deliberate hint that you can you use the torch hollow down below to achieve the same thing, instead of just killing him, if you 'free' him, he will follow you around and provide light. That is something that you think would/should have been mentioned in this video as one of differences of DS2. This is not a criticism of the video, it just should have been included.

Here's something that DS2 did super well: Spells and Catalysts. You had catalysts that could be infused so you could specialize in damage types. You had weapons that doubled as catalysts. And you could INFUSE THEM TOO. "Casting height" was something cool that staves had, because depending on your terrain you could actually hit things from behind cover. Spells were freaking amazing. Even though sorceries underperformed slightly in pvp, most, if not all spell classes, be them Sorceries, Miracles, Pyromancies, or Hexes (which had BOTH sorceries and miracle spells), were a blast to play, and Miracle builds actually wrecked things. All spell classes had their own identity, flair, and use. Also, to this day, I DEFY anybody to find a FromSoft game with this much Fashion! :v

Light all Torch Sconces in Gutter and Things Betwixt, get invaded. Light the four torches of Aldia's to get a key. Forlorn Invader's randomly show up. Mad Phantom invader (model and aggro is that of the 5 man gank in Iron King DLC) at the Belfry Sol. NG+ adds red phantom enemies in almost every location in Base Game. NG+ spawns Falconers at spawn. NG+ adds a mimic in the tunnel of Majula to Forest of Fallen Giants. NG+ cycle adds an NPC near the Seed of a Giant Tree that drops Catarina armor. About Forlorn invaders: They will invade EVEN AFTER a boss is defeated; if you beat 6 you can buy their armor and weapons from Straid. If you are in Offline mode, Rhoy the Explorer invades before the Royal Rat Authority fight, respawns endlessly in Bonfire intensity 2. NG+ and beyond adds an NPC enemy to Aldia's Keep that can drop the Monastery set, including weapon, which is just a renamed Painting Guardian set. Going back to the big spider of Tseldora, Freja's boss fight with the ashen mist heart allows you to walk into the dragon. Items are moved around from DS2 and Scholar. Scholar adds Heide Knights to Heide's Tower of Flame. Pursurers spawn in tons of locations in Scholar, some REQUIRING a further NG cycle and cannot be forced with ascetics. Each Abyss can lead to the Dark Lurker fight, but all three Abyss' share the same boss but not location; dying in one Abyss and heading to another to have an easier run does not allow recollection of souls. In the Abyss you cannot summon for help, instead you can be invaded as all the enemies are actually invaders themselves; can also fight any and all invaders. Blue Sentinels aid Way of Blue covenant people. Way of Blue covenant makes being invaded in the Abyss really really hard. There is just so much to DS2 that I wish other Souls' titles would do

The Silent Hill reference was fantastic. But yeah, DS2 is just full of so many nice little things like this. Heck, the fact I can knock people out of fog walls during invasions alone makes it Froms' best Souls game. Why they never brought that mechanic back is beyond me even though it could solve so many issues. Most of the time in Elden Ring hosts just make a b-line for the boss room the moment I start to spawn in, and if a host has even half a functioning brain they're guaranteed to make it to the fog gate long before I catch them.
