Watch Sparky the all electric tugboat work with an LDV eT60 all electric Ute to moor a container ship at Port of Auckland
A thin rope with weight attached is thrown from the ship to the shore crew and wrapped around the Capstan.
Through a series of leg operated hydraulic valves, the capstan rotates and drags up the heavy mooring lines out of the water, to connect over the bollards on the wharf.
Makes the process so much easier and safer for all. The ship then winches the mooring lines tight to hold itself in position.
Cool Box NZ worked in collaboration with the Port team to produce a cost effective lines truck with #zeroemissions
Cool Box provides motor bodies and transport solutions for now and the future.
(for those that ask why exhaust pipes are showing on the Tugboat... there is an onboard diesel generator for emergency breakdowns, but not used for general operations to date)
