It is definitely a key holder on the side of the truck. It made things simple if the service vendor needed to pick it up for servicing, or if you had to leave it at the shop after hours. There is a round hole cut in the fender and a pocket behind the lock where the key and fob would be stored. I drove an AT&T fleet car for a couple of years. The cars were serviced by a third party (at least where I was from) and they would get your next level supervisor involved if you did not bring the vehicle in for service on time. They're going to be in good mechanical condition, but most are trashed on the inside with food, cigarette ashes, dirt, etc. Most drivers did not take good care of their cars. Many have generators or power inverters built in. Some have a built in wifi unit and a laptop safe too. They also have GPS hardware which I would remove right away if I bought one of these vehicles. Some are sent away without emptying them at all, and often have expensive tools or ladders depending on the area they came from, and what the driver installed. I've seen uverse remote controls and set top boxes, wire, connectors, and DirecTV equipment as well. All usually sit for months on the Copart lot before they are listed for sale and their batteries are dead as a doornail. "Surplus" means either a technician position was eliminated and the vehicle was retired, or it hit a mileage or age threshold and was sent back. I've seen T vehicles at Copart with less than 10,000 miles.

Randy, hydroboost has nothing to do with fuel type; it's for heavier duty braking systems. That's why you see it on one ton trucks and above.

Nice alternative copart view. Your channel is interesting and I enjoy the content you present to your viewers. I grew up in GM country but since early 2000`s they have become less reliable and they`re heavily problematic. I had 2 new gm suv`s in the 2000`s and they had more issues than 20 year old GM vans I owned afterwards. My last 2 have been Japanese nameplates and have been pretty reliable. And btw your f150 suits your job interests. New does not necessarily equal better. And I personally feel the Corvette was a mistake and I am sorry to say that as I know you really like the car, but an older vette like 50`s,60`s, 70 `s. Even 80`s or 90`s vette would have been just as enjoyable to own as a new one.

I drove truck for 10 years. Definitely takes some getting used too. Some drivers are pigs. To give you an idea of the strength of those trucks. That front axle is good for 12,000 pounds. And yes all trucks need that extra oil in the side box as well as coolant, 5th wheel grease. Even new trucks burn oil. That's why every pre trip inspection you check your fluids. You do a pre trip inspection multiple times a day.

Back in the day, none of the AT&T trucks had AC. This kept the techs from sitting in their trucks to cool off while burning up fuel. Up until last year a guy on my crew still didn’t have AC in his truck but most of them do now. New technology allows upper management to monitor a tech’s vehicle idle time nowadays.

Up until the late 2000s there was not a mandate where most fleets had to have vehicles with air conditioning in them. what utility companies did was right before the Mandate bought a lot of vehicles without air conditioning because they said that if they had air conditioned the technicians were more than likely idle the trucks more "enjoying" the air conditoning rather than doind the work in turn spending more money in gas and also lower product productivity because they were sitting in the air and not doing the job they were assigned to do but in the late-2000s OSHA pass the law where a big Fleet had to have air conditioned trucks. The hydro boost were on some trucks used to haul splicing trailers, arrow boards, and cable reel trailers.

The F450 with the reduced power is because the motor is doing a regeneration. These trucks go through a regeneration that burns off crap in the Cat converter. It was one of Fords worst ideas. It will go back to full power when the regen cycle is done.

Tow companies very often have to disconnect the driveshafts for towing on commercial vehicles of that size. You see if often in Ron Pratt videos. The F450's have an option for a built in tow rig. Mounts underneath the bed allowing you to drive it like a real truck but still gives you a free 'tow truck' for picking up cars that don't run. A few of the 'Asset Recovery' companies use them around here for stealthily swooping in and towing away repo cars.

You need to keep the 7.3 F-250. As you can see yourself with over 300k miles they are some of the best most reliable longest lasting trucks made. As I've told you before a company named Katskin makes a leather kit for that truck. You order the kit for about $1000-$1500 & Katskin ships the kit to a OKC installer & they install new leather covers on all your seats. Even @ $2000 that's still way cheaper than a newer truck.
