I like the term emotional struggle or problems over mental illness.

What if you are willing to take antidepressants and you had side effects from most of them prior to cancer diagnosis. And with cancer you need antidepressants but have difficulty finding one that you don't have side effects from. Also, some of them interfere with chemo. Can anyone write something concrete about that?

There are so many options for antidepressants. If one does not work, another might. It may be helpful to know that antidepressants alone are usually not sufficient for management of depression. Therapies like cognitive behavior therapies and others are usually added to antidepressants. There is no interaction between chemotherapy and antidepressants.

It sounds like you're going through an incredibly tough time, and it's truly important to reach out for support. Dealing with cancer is a huge challenge, and facing it without a strong support network can feel overwhelming. Please know that there are people who want to help. It's crucial to connect with healthcare professionals who can provide support and guidance during this difficult period. Additionally, there are support groups and helplines specifically designed for individuals going through similar experiences, where you can find understanding and compassion.

Care Team? Lone wolves neither want or need a team!

Great point. People who prefer to be on their own do not get the same benefit from having a large team. On the other hand, people deserve care and good information from their medical providers no matter what their proclivities are in terms of being with people.

And, if I want answers I spend hours and hours researching myself. Being told the truth by some professonals doesn't always happen, especially when they misdiagnose and/or are not properly trained. To say nothing of those who are quick to dismiss older patients, and, yes, that does happen, even at highly rated hospitals!@@yerbba
