Join expert James Brunson for The Holiday Paradox: Coping with Stress during the Holidays.
The Holidays are traditionally a time to celebrate good times with family and friends. The hustle and bustle of gift buying, decorating, pre-holiday parties, and preparing for the holidays can be a joyous experience. However, the excitement of it all can also be exhausting, especially if we are over-committing to meet too many expectations in our lives. What’s more, the holiday season often brings unwelcome guests - stress and depression. And it's no wonder. The holidays often present a dizzying array of demands - cooking meals, shopping, baking, cleaning and entertaining, to name just a few. And if coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is spreading in your community, you may be feeling additional stress, or you may be worrying about you and your loved ones' health. But with some practical tips, you can minimize the stress that accompanies the holidays. You may even end up enjoying the holidays more than you thought you would.
In this webinar you’ll learn the following:
Limit setting & how to slow down and prioritize what is important to you during the holidays so you avoid overcommitting to meet everyone else’s expectations.
Simplifying the gift giving expectations, and discover the gift of connecting and creating new family rituals that will last as gits of a lifetime for our loved ones
Acknowledge your feelings, especially when stressed out or d sad and implement nourishing self-care skills
Reach out. If you feel lonely or isolated, seek out community, religious or other social events or communities.
Set aside differences. Try to accept family members and friends as they are, even if they don't live up to all of your expectations. Set aside grievances until a more appropriate time for discussion. And be understanding if others get upset or distressed when something goes awry. Chances are they're feeling the effects of holiday stress and depression, too.
Stick to a budget.
Learn to say no to over-commitments as saying yes when you should say no can leave you feeling resentful and overwhelmed.
