It was so awesome that my two favorite bots got to fight in a main event! I'm super happy with the outcome of this fight, so far black dragon had a tougher strength of schedule, and copperhead had a weak one. Because copper head won and black dragon still had a really good performance, I think both bots will get a high seeding this way.
@KevTyGaming
3 жыл бұрын
Why do you say Copperhead had a weak strength of schedule? While P1 turned out to be a pretty soft target, Gigabyte and Black Dragon are two pretty serious contenders, and Copperhead made both of them look like easy opponents. That’s not to discredit the Black Dragon team, because Kraken and Claw Viper are no slouches either, but I certainly wouldn’t say Copperhead had an easy schedule

@@RobertCowanDIY so there wasn‘t any deliberate engineering going into getting copperhead not to get caught on the seams? Very interesting. @RobertCowanDIY
3 жыл бұрын
It's quite common. Tombstone and many others use S7. It just needs to be heat treated properly. Too soft, and there's no benefit for the added cost. Too hard, and it will shatter. Once you find the right process, it's nearly indestructible.

Adding the epoxy to that motor looks like an incredibly fiddly job. If you can find a way to mount it on a lathe and get in there with a boring bar or something, then you could just apply loads of epoxy and remove the excess. im not surprised it didn't do anything, aka the kill saw, if it did do a lot then i thing the metal industry would go crazy to get that saw because it takes a long time to cut through round stocks of steel, takes hours depending on the diameter and the alloy. if anything those saw blades take all the damage, i wouldn't be surprised if they were missing teeth and were all bent up
@Skwisgar2322
3 жыл бұрын
I think, based on the video, one of the crosswise gashes in the tire is from the kill-saw, the saw was perpendicular to the direction of travel of copperhead when it came up. still minor damage, I have always seen the kill-saws and even the hammer as made-for-tv gimmicks, occasionally a bit will get a wedgelet or something jammed in a slot, but they are seldom a real threat. Similar to most flame throwers, Gruff has probably the most dangerous one, but the amount of heat you have to transfer to a bot to actually start to do damage to internal components is pretty high. Not saying they are completely useless, but it is a low probability weapon, looks cool but mostly show.
@RobertCowanDIY

Yeah, I think you might be right. We have so many cuts on the wheels, it's hard to tell what came from which fight. The wheels are oddly durable, but do get a lot of superficial damage.
