Join Anthony Coulls for an in-depth tour of Coppernob, a rare locomotive (only two remain!) built in 1846 that survived a lengthy service-only to be battered by a bomb blast in 1941.
Anthony tells us all about the intricacies of the Edward Bury bar-frame design and the incredible history of this striking locomotive, which hauled passengers and goods on the Furness Railway in Lancashire for more than 50 years.
Having gained notoriety in its working life, Coppernob was proudly preserved for all to see at Barrow-in-Furness station. However, the case it was kept in was destroyed during a Second-World-War bombing raid on the station, leaving the locomotive scarred for the rest of its life.
