I could sit for hours just watching you make those beautiful strokes, with infinite patience. So also listening to your voice patiently explaining the minutest detail. There is something very calming about it. Thank you so much for these precious tutorials. So glad I found these tutorials.

This set of tutorials is absolutely fantastic. The explanations are so clear. I am already making progress on day 1. Also, your voice is rather calming & easy to listen to. It makes the whole experience enjoyable. So far I am noticing my upstrokes are a bit shaky & I struggle with transitioning from shade to hair. I've been doing blackletter for several months, this is a whole new discipline.

I really appreciate the time you take to explain the entrance strokes, and how they change when we are going into an oval shape. This is so helpful! By showing what happens when we try to go all the way up to the header line, we can see why we need to be mindful of the next shape as we are making that entrance stroke and exit stroke. You streamlined the learning curve for us!

You are teaching me so much. The thing about shifting to the right slightly to make the downward stroke on the 'a' because the tines open on the left is eye opening. This video has helped me see the importance of the underturn when it comes to writing 'b', 'c' and 'e'. Thank you for your generosity in making these videos and for making them free. And for taking the time to reply to so many comments.🙌🙌

Hi! I love your instruction! My first oblique pen should arrive in a few days. In teh meantime, I am using a straight cork holder with a Nikko G nib. My problem is not getting the thin strokes thin enough. Will that be easier with the oblique holder? I am really enjoying learning Copperplate! Thank you!
@LoveleighLoops
8 ай бұрын
Hello! 👋 When you're using a nib, it should be relatively easy to get thin strokes as long as you aren't applying pressure (aka don't press down). In other words, just glide across the page on the very tip of the nib. If you're having trouble with this, the paper might be the culprit - sometimes tiny shreds of paper get caught in the tip of the nib and make your strokes appear thicker.

You are a fantastic teacher. My calligraphy has improved exponentially since watching your letter tutorials. One question. What weight paper do you suggest to avoid feathering. I am using 90 lb paper that is great but it is rather pricey and I find if I print out your grid paper on 20 lb laser paper it feathers.

I have a question for ya! I printed your template (thank you!) and I got the pens , and paper you suggested, I wipe my pen down but mine is always catching. Mainly the entrance strokes or anything in the upward motion. Then so clumpy of a bleed going down. Do you know the reason for this? It’s so frustrating
@LoveleighLoops
18 күн бұрын
Ah that sounds super frustrating :( have you been able to try another nib, and is it giving you the same problems? If you're mainly having trouble on the upstrokes, you could also try adjusting the angle of your pen (so it's not upright to the page) and think about gliding up without any pressure.
@kanck7909
Жыл бұрын
Why do you need to lift your pen for 'b'? You can drag if a bit to the right, while keeping contact with the paper. You will flex as you go down anyways, so the fat flex line will cover up everything in the middle.
@LoveleighLoops
Жыл бұрын
GREAT question. You don't *need* to lift it but some people find that when they don't, the ink from the prior stroke gets dragged. Also, lifting there can be helpful when you go on to connect letters together because certain connections require a different exit stroke. Lifting allows you to re-set and prepare for the exit stroke into a new letter. Let me know if that helps

Hello! If you're connecting lowercase 'b' to 'c', make sure the final stroke of the 'b' comes down far enough so that you can connect it low enough on the 'c'.

how to control the ink flow? i can make the super thin upstroke, but when i make the U stroke or O stroke, i cant make it really think for the upstroke, like when doing the downstroke has too many ink
@LoveleighLoops
6 жыл бұрын
You could try diluting the ink with water to make it thinner and flow more easily. Also, you might be pressing too hard on the nib on the downstrokes. Another option is to lift your pen slightly before making the upstroke.
@melisaputrip487

Loveleigh Loops so its like making two strokes in different times? like down strokes first and then give a gap little bit to make the upstroke? i thought it must be done in one single movement.
